Blogger mail: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Ready for another round of blogger mail? I’ve tried quite a number of new bits over the past few weeks, some gems and some things that need to be left on the shelf.

Pixi Vitamin wake up mist

I absolutely love this stuff! In fact this is my second bottle, as once I was finished my press sample I went out and bought another bottle myself. I am obsessed! The Vitamin wake up mist is said to be a pick me up for your skin. It is supposed to act like a toner that hydrates your skin. It is quite scented so that might be for everyone  but I just love how refreshing it feels the you spray it on your face. I apply it to my skin first thing in the morning and then apply my regular skin care as normal. I also spritz my face at intervals throughout the day! Honest to god, I adore this. I don’t think I have enjoyed something as much in a very long time . You can buy it from Look Fantastic for €19.45 here.

The Balm Nude beach palette

Those of you that have read the blog for a while now will know that I am a huge fan of The Balm. There are very few products that I don’t like! The new eyeshadow release is no different. This palette is fab! The colours are incredibly pigmented, blend like a dream and last really well on the eyes. It has 12 shadows which are a mixture of shimmers and mattes. Personally I prefer the mattes, with my favourite being bodacious. The shimmers are also beautiful and apply really well to the eyes. The colours included in the palette lean more towards a more dramatic eye than a very subtle neutral eye, so if you like something a little more low key than this might not be for you but if you’re like me and like a warm dramatic eye then you can’t go wrong with this palette. You can find it on Cloud 10 beauty for €34.95 here.

Benefit Hoola Quickie contour stick

Since the day I received this, I don’t think I have done my makeup without using it. I honestly love it! This is a beautiful warm and subtle cream contour stick. This is so easy to use. Basically, I apply a streak into the hollows of my cheek and then blend it in with the Nima Ingrid brush . It blends so beautifully and without any hassle and give such a gorgeous warmth to the face. Instead of a dirty streak of contour, you get a lovely warm subtle contour. Honest to god I love this. My only complaint is that mine broke. I did have it in my bag quite a bit, and I was travelling a lot with it but the product fell out of the tube. It isn’t really an issue as I can still use it, but it is something worth mentioning. You can buy the Benefit Quickie Contour stick from Cloud 10 Beauty for €30 here.

Note BB cream

Lots of you will known I am obsessed with the Note Luminous Moisturising foundation so I had high hopes for the BB cream. However, it just didn’t happen for me. It applies really well to the skin and looks fabulous when applied but on my skin it just didn’t wear well. I know that it wears really well on other people but on me it was patchy and didn’t look great after about two hours. Another downside is the shade range. The lightest shade is 01 and somewhere around a Mc nc 25. It isn’t very light at all! Although this didn’t work for me, having read how so many people love it, I would still say it is worth trying out. It is only €11.95 on Sam Mc Cauleys here.

Make Up For ever Aqua XL Ink liner

I am not someone who is gifted at a wing liner. I can do one but it takes time, effort and a serious amount of patience. My all time favourite liner is the Kat Von D Tatoo liner. I honestly can’t be without it. The only problem with that liner is it really isn’t black enough. The Make Up For Ever Aqua XL liner however, is as black as the darkest soul. It isn’t the easiest liner to work with as the nib is quite stiff, however, it is worth the effort. This stuff doesn’t budge! It stays extremely back all day and it is well worth the spend. I find if I don’t have the time to create a wing with this liner, I have put it on over my Kat Von D to make sure my liners is extra black and lasts. You can pick it up from Debenhams online here for €22.

Wet N Wild Lash Renegade

There seems to have been a lot of hype surrounding this mascara and for the most part I tend to avoid hyped products but the bizarre wand on this got the better of me. The best way to describe this wand is as a two parter. The ball part is for separating out your lashes, while the longer, more traditional looking part gives length and volume. It does actually work. I find that I get get length, volume and separation. The only downside would be that it doesn’t hold for the length of the day but to be fair, there are very few mascaras that do! You can pick the Wet N Wild Lash renegade mascara up in Dunnes and Penneys for €6.49

Image Skincare SPF

I am currently taking part in an Image only skin care challenge for two months. The only skincare products I can put on my face for the two months, have to be what were prescribed for me from my therapist in Bella and Me. ( this is a collaboration) . I have a whole conccotion products to use for both day and night and I have been loving all of them bar one. I just can’t love the Image SPF. The Image SPF comes in three forms. There is an oil free bottle, a moisturising bottle and a spray bottle. While I do like the spray bottle, I don’t think it is ideal for every day use for applying under your makeup. I have tried not the oil free and the moisturising one and I just find them too heavy on my skin. The only way I can get it to work under my makeup is if I apply it about a half hour before hand and let it sink in. But who actually has time for that! I know I need to wear an SPF every day to prevent sun damage but I really don’t think this is the one!

Oral B 3D White Luxe 2 – Step system

I was initially introduced to this teeth whitening system as part of a sponsored collaboration. However, I have liked it that I thought it warranted being included in a blog post again! Basically this system works in 2 steps. You brush you teeth with the tooth paste and then follow up by brushing with the accelerator. I found that while the tooth paste is good on it’s own, when paired with the accelerator is where you see the big difference . When used together I 100% get whiter teeth. I also love the fact I don’t need to sit for an hour with stuff in my mouth because I don’t have time! You can read the full post here ( the original post was a sponsored post to be transparent) and you can pick the 2 step system up on Tesco.
