2016 Budget favourites

2016 budget favourites

What a year 2016 was! For so many, 2016 will be chalked down as one to forget. It was the year that saw a multitude of celebrity deaths. World politics went a little of track and there seemed like there was a lot of personal heartache on my timeline.  However, for me, 2016 was one of the best yet. As 2016 was the year I became a mammy! I am sure you’ve heard it again and again, but there really is nothing that can prepare you for the love you feel for a tiny human. Even the sleepless nights are manageable, as you’re getting up to feed the tiny person you made and love!…

Hit, Miss or Maybe : Concealers

As someone who has quite dark circles, I am incredibly hard and picky on the concealers I use. My concealer needs to not only cover my dark circles, but they must be comfortable, long wearing and above all they must not settle in my fine lines! Often with a concealer you can get a feel for how good it is on first use. However, some concealers need a little TLC on application, as not all concealer apply and work the same way. For todays post I am going to put some much loved concealers to the test. Some concealers that I love, will be ones others hate. While I know…

Clarins Instant concealer

Those of you that have been reading the blog for a while now will know that my dark circles are the absolute bain of my life! My thyroid issues mean that my dark circles are ever present and can some days look like two black eyes.  Over the past few years I have learnt different ways to hide them somewhat, but I am always on the hunt for the next best concealer to not only cover the circles but bring a brightness to the underage area to make me look a little more awake. The Clarins Instant concealer promises to revive, conceal and smooth the under eye area. It contains…

Becca Under Eye Brightening corrector

Those of you that have been reading the blog for a while now will know that my dark circles are the bain of my life. I am constantly looking for a new product to help banish the dreaded darkness. While I have got my routine fairly good now, I still feel that they aren’t 100% obliterated and I won’t be happy until they are completely concealed. The Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector is said to be a full coverage creme corrector that completely eradicates under eye darkness by brightening and evening out skin tone. The cream is infused with light reflecting illuminators and is said to smoothen and prep the…

The hunt for a Holy Grail Concealer

Finding a good concealer isn’t easy. What feels like silk on one person, might feel like cement for you. Everybody looks for something different from a concealer. Some want it to hide dark circles, while others may  want it to conceal spots. To help you in your search, I have picked out some of my favourite concealers for you to have a mooch through. Each and everyone of these concealers I love for their own individual reasons. Urban Decay Naked Skin weightless complete coverage concealer

Urban Decay is not a brand that I find myself gravitating to often. I am not completely sure why I don’t give Urban Decay a look in that often, but there is an obvious lack of UD products in my rather large makeup collection. However, when Wayne Goss wrote about how the Urban Decay Naked Skin weightless concealer was a game changer, I knew I had to give it a go. From time to time, I suffer with dark circles. Some days are better than others, but for the most part they drive me insane, and it is a constant struggle to keep them covered. I didn’t hold out much hope…

Products for highlighting

Like with contouring products, Highlighting products come in both cream and powder form. There are a million and one products out there to help you achieve the perfect glow, but I have narrowed it down to my favourite six and have divided it into 3 cream and 3 powder. When highlighting my skin, I tend to use both cream and powder at the same time. I use the cream products in the areas I want to highlight and also under the eye to brighten up this area and then I apply the powder products above the eye and on the high points of my cheekbones. Is this the correct way…

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

Sometimes, a product comes into your life, that makes you sit up and wonder where it has been all your life?  Over the last number of months, the glowing reviews have been coming thick and fast for the Nars radiant creamy concealer. Ever the sceptic, I took all of these reviews with a pinch of salt. There was no way a concealer could live up to all the hype. Ladies I hang my head in shame. This concealer not only lives up to the hype, but it does it in a way I never thought possible. I was never one to suffer from dark circles, but over the last year or…

Maybelline Instant age rewind Eraser concealer Review

For the last few months I have been on a bit of a concealer hunt. I have pretty bad dark circles and I have been finding it very hard to find a concealer that covers them. I’m gonna be honest, normally I run a million miles away from budget concealers.  However, a few months back I picked up the Maybelline Instant age rewind Eraser and I haven’t looked back. This concealer is absolutely brilliant. The Eraser concealer comes in a small plastic tube, with a spongy applicator at the top. You have to turn the bottom of the tube to release product out the top. It takes a while to…

Products that made me go “meh”

While I have written the odd scathing post on the blog, for the most part I write about things I like or love. It’s much easier to write a glowing post then to write about things that just leaving you feeling neither love nor hate. With a beauty addition like mine,  I try out so many new things, that I am bound to come across a few that left me feeling a little meh. I saw this tag on a few other blogs and new I just had to do one myself Chanel Le Vernis Nail colour  This might not be a popular one, but to me these nail varnishes…

Mac Pro longwear concealer

The hunt for the perfect concealer is almost as hard as the hunt for the perfect foundation. I have quite dark circles and find it very difficult to get anything to cover them. In the last few weeks they seem to be getting worse and all my usual go to concealers were just not able to cover them. Next up on my list to try was Mac Pro Longwear concealer. Just like with the Mac foundations, this concealer comes in NC and NW shades. I normally wear  NC 25 foundation but as I like my concealer to be a little lighter under my eyes, I went for an NC 20.…

Crown Brush 10 colour concealer palette

The Crown Brush palette has quickly become a firm favourite for many makeup lovers.  I was so excited to get my hands on this palette as it was never in stock. I am a huge fan of contouring and I really thought this was the product for me. I was so wrong. The palette contains 10 different colour concealers, ranging from light to very dark. The lightest shade is not very light and if you are a fair skinned lady, this is going to be too dark for you. The darkest shade hasn’t even been touched in my palette. I found that each of the colours were very heavy on…
