Star buys from the new releases from Wet n Wild

A few weeks ago I was sent a number of products to try out from the Wet n Wild new releases. Long time readers of the blog will know that I am a big Wet n Wild fan and many of their products are in my regular makeup rotation. Like with any makeup brand, there will be products that suit you and some that don’t. For today’s post I have picked out my star buys from the new releases that not only hold their own with other affordable brands, but in some cases rival that of their higher end counterparts. Megaliner Liquid eyeliner When it comes to eyeliner, I am pretty…

Have you ever gone into a Mac store and wanted to make a purchase but been completely overwhelmed by all the products? I didn’t include any lipsticks or eyeshadows, as to be honest, they deserve a whole post to themselves, there are just so many good ones. I promise to get one of those up soon!! Mac Fix + As you can see from my almost empty bottle, Mac Fix + is a…

Physicians Formula Bronzers for Summer & competition

Over the past few months I have noticed a change in the makeup world. Many of the top makeup artists are moving away from the the heavily contoured look, in favour of a gentle bronzed glow. Even the Kardashians themselves, the catalyst for the heavily contoured look, are backing away from the contouring powders and cream and instead opting for a little more of a natural look. Physicians Formula have a massive range of bronzers to pick from and for some weeks now I have been trying out a number of the them to see which ones work best for me. If you follow me on snapchat ( @thebeauttruth) you…

Make Up For Ever Bronze Fusion Bronzer

There has been a definite change in the makeup world over the past few months when it comes to contouring. Open any magazine, look to the catwalk or even check out your favourite Youtube makeup artists and you will see that there is an absolute change in the direction on how we contour our face. Gone are the days of the racing stipe down the side of our face. Instead we are being introduced to a natural bronzed contour and lots and lots of glowing natural skin. We have all fallen victim to the muddy streak of bronzer down the side of our face in the quest for the sculpted…

CHARLOTTE TILBURY: MUST-HAVES, MAYBES AND MISSES

If this is your first time to encounter Sharon’s blog Behind Green Eyes, you have seriously been missing out. I love Sharon’s blog. She is beyond honest and absolutely hilarious. In fact she is hands down my favourite snap chatter. Her snaps crack me up on a regular basis. When I have a long list of snaps to view, hand on heart Sharon’s are the first ones that I watch. I have even been caught in public crying laughing at some of her snaps. She’s brilliant.  Sharon also has fantastically expensive taste in makeup, while at the same time she mixes it up with more budget brands. It blows my…

Mac mineralise skin finish Natural in Give Me Sun

A few weeks ago, my sister treated me to a makeover in Mac Galway for my hen party. As some of you may be aware, when you get your makeup done in Mac, the cost of the makeover is redeemable in product. I went for a full makeover, so that meant that I was able to pick out €50 worth of product. Sure no bother to me. I mean let’s call a spade a spade, I could have easily picked out 5 times that amount of product. I picked out Mac Mineralise skin finish natural in Give me Sun and the lipstick Viva Glam II. Give me Sun is described…

Sleek Face Form Contouring and blush Kit

Who doesn’t love contoured cheekbones? I have a fairly round face, so contouring is a must for me so that my face has some shape and dimension. I personally prefer to work with powder products to achieve the contoured look, as I find that cream products can look a little harsh during the day time. When it comes to powder contouring palettes, the Sleek Face Form Palette is much loved and raved about by many the beauty lover. The palette comes with a matte contouring powder, highlighter and either a blusher of a bronzer. It is all packaged in a sleek handbag friendly, matte black palette with a decent size…

Products for highlighting

Like with contouring products, Highlighting products come in both cream and powder form. There are a million and one products out there to help you achieve the perfect glow, but I have narrowed it down to my favourite six and have divided it into 3 cream and 3 powder. When highlighting my skin, I tend to use both cream and powder at the same time. I use the cream products in the areas I want to highlight and also under the eye to brighten up this area and then I apply the powder products above the eye and on the high points of my cheekbones. Is this the correct way…

Products for contouring

Lately it seems the world and it’s Granny is contouring. Everyone wants cheekbones like Kim Kardashian et al, but finding the right product to achieve this look can be hard work and we can end up with more hits than misses. Every week I get emails from readers asking me to recommend products that they can use to achieve their sculpted goddess cheekbones. So today I have put together my favourite 6 contouring products, to have you looking like Kim in no time. Before I go into the details of each product, I want to talk contouring palettes. Everybody seems to want all their contouring products contained in one neat…

Thrifty Tuesday: NYX Bronzer and Blusher combo

I’ve had this blusher and bronzer combo in my drawer for the last few months and it was only a few weeks ago, while shopping my stash, that I took it out to give it a go. Since my very first use, I was kicking myself that I hadn’t taken it out sooner to use as it is quite simply perfect. The bronzer and blusher are housed in a white plastic compact with a mirror inside. The compact is quite sturdy, as I have had it knocking about in my bag for the last two weeks and it’s still in perfect condition. The Bronzer and blusher combo comes in 5…

Becca shimmering skin perfector pressed in Moonstone

The Becca shimmering skin perfector pressed, was the first item on my hitlist when I went to Florida last month. I have heard so many good things about this powder highlighter and it had been on my mind for a long time. When Jaclyn Hill, one of my favourite YouTubers, raved about this, that I decided that my life would not be complete until I tried it. The Becca Shimmering skin perfector pressed in the shade Moonstone, is a shimmering golden powder highlighter that is the perfect colour for Irish skintones. I am a massive fan of adding a powder highlighter to the tops of my cheeks, to give a glowy…

Inglot HD sculpting powders

In case you have been living under a rock, contouring is in! Everybody wants the sculpted look a lá Kim Kardashian and friends and Inglot have got you covered not only for cream contouring, but in the powder department too. When it comes to sculpting out the cheek bones everybody seems to have a different preference. When I am heading out at night, I tend to use a dark cream concealer to sculpt out my non existent cheekbones. Sometimes if I want to give an even more defined look, I put a sculpting powder on top of the cream. However, during the day I tend to gently sculpt the cheekbones…

Brushes for contouring

Contouring is everywhere lately. It seems every week there is a new method or product to help us achieve the contoured look of Kim Kardashian. I am going to put my hands up and admit, I am not good at contouring. There are some nights when my contouring is on point and my cheekbones look cracking and then there are other nights when I look like I have gotten a slap of a dirty hand on my cheeks. I am getting better at it, but I just find it so hard. In my quest for the cheekbones of a Grecian goddess, I have tried a multitude of products and tools. I…

Inglot AMC cream concealer number 73

Inglot Cream concealer number 73 The word contouring fills me with both fear and excitement. There are days when my contouring is seriously on the ball, and then there are days that I look like I have given myself a 5 o clock shadow! Ever since Kim K posted the famous picture of her contouring routine, we have all gone contouring mad. There are times I actually believe that if I could just get my contouring right, I will look like Kimmy. Wishful thinking I know. With contouring we are trying to not only look like Kim, but to create the illusion of cheekbones. Most of us aren’t blessed with…

Inglot Sparkling Dust review

Inglot Sparkling Dust number 2 If you are someone who loves a strong highlighter, then this is the post for you. A few weeks ago I was introduced to the Inglot Sparkling dust, while attending a makeup masterclass with From Matte to Metallic. From the very first time I used it, I knew myself and this little pot of sparkle were going to have a serious love affair. Regular readers of the blog will know my love of multi tasking products and this little pot, is seriously hard working when it comes to multi tasking. Inglot Sparkling Dust number 2 The Inglot Sparkling dust comes in a decent size 2.5g…

Nars Laguna Bronzer

Would you believe, this is my first ever Nars product! I know, I am extremely late to the bandwagon, but I always found their stuff to be so expensive. Now, having used the Laguna bronzer,  I know myself to be a silly fool, as it is money well spent and I have a list as long as my arm for my next visit into the Nars counter in Brown Thomas. It was my birthday last month and my Mam and Dad, decided to pick something off my February wish list. I was so surprised when a delivery from Brown Thomas arrived at my door on the morning of my birthday…

Mac Prep + Prime Highlighter pen

Mac Prep + Prime Oh sweet baby Jesus in the manger, I may have found a new holy grail cream highlighter. Each time I  twist this little baby, I can hear the angles in heaven singing a song of praise for it’s complete and utter beauty. Mac prep + prime highlighting pen really is a thing of beauty. I am a huge fan of cream products for contouring as I feel it gives a much more natural finish. Don’t get me wrong, I do love my powders and I have a feeling at the moment that I won’t be able to live my life much longer without Nars Laguna bronzer, but…

Crown Brush 10 colour concealer palette

The Crown Brush palette has quickly become a firm favourite for many makeup lovers.  I was so excited to get my hands on this palette as it was never in stock. I am a huge fan of contouring and I really thought this was the product for me. I was so wrong. The palette contains 10 different colour concealers, ranging from light to very dark. The lightest shade is not very light and if you are a fair skinned lady, this is going to be too dark for you. The darkest shade hasn’t even been touched in my palette. I found that each of the colours were very heavy on…

Highlighting products for glowing skin

Highlighting your face gives your skin a beautiful glow and helps you either minimise or maximise the features you want to change. When highlighting picking a good shade is really important. You can either go for a shade that is close to your skin tone, or as I like to do a shade slightly lighter than your foundation/skin tone. It is important never to go darker for highlighting. Nobody wants mucky looking skin. I like to use a product that has a bit of a glow or shimmer to it. I said shimmer not glitter. Nobody wants to look like they were tackled by Tinker bell. Where to apply highlighter…

Real Techniques Miracle complexion sponge

Many of you will already know about the Real Techniques brush range by Samantha Chapman of Pixiwoo fame. I love Pixiwoo. Their Youtube channel is absolutely amazeballs. Like many beauty addicts, I have a good few of the Real Techniques brushes and really love them. So when I heard that they were bringing out their own version of the Beauty Blender I was more than a little bit excited. Hello flawless skin!   I have previously used a generic makeup sponge that I purchased on ebay and while I was happy enough with how it worked, it wasn’t always my go to tool while applying makeup. But the Real Techniques  Miracle…
