Finally some good news

I have written and deleted this post countless time this week. I have debated if I should even write this post, as so many people have been blogging about their own hard experiences, but I decided that as most of you already knew the bad news, it was only right to share the good news.

As many of you already know, last April I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. Not the worst type of cancer you can get, but enough to knock you off your feet and take the wind out of your sails for a while. You might have seen my lovely Frankenstein scar on my neck in pictures, which is a result of 2 separate operations to take my thyroid out. As ugly as that scar looks, it is actually something I am very proud of. It is a sign of survival, of strength, family and friends.

For me my dance with cancer is finally over. I am now 100% cancer free. It is impossible to describe the relief that over comes your body when you hear the word cured. In seconds You see your life flash before you, except this time you don’t recognise the scenes as it is in fact your future that is playing out. You feel hope returning and growing in your body faster than any cancer cell ever could. That small word means having my life back and looking forward to feeling normal again. I will never take for granted the mundane tasks of day to day life. That’s not to say I won’t moan about having to empty the dishwasher or hang out the washing, but I have now a new view on my life, I won’t ever sweat the small stuff again, or at least I will try not to.

For me the blog has been one of the best things to come out of being sick. I would never have had the bottle to start The Beautiful Truth only for being off work sick. Nor would I have met so many wonderful people that have crossed my path as a result of blogging. From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you. Thank you of reading my blog, liking the Facebook page or following on Twitter. Thank you for giving me something to focus on, while the doctors took care of the rest.

Now normal life shall resume.
