Halo Hair extensions from Zinc hair and beauty

So last February when I got my Great Lengths hair extensions removed, I was beyond devastated. I knew it would be at least 3 months before I could get another set of extensions in, as I wanted to wait until closer to the wedding to make sure my new extensions were lovely and fresh. However, here’s the thing, I couldn’t be without a thick mane. I felt bald!!! While my hair was in excellent condition after the removal of my Great Lengths, in a moment of madness I decided to try a little bit of a long bob. What was I thinking!! So the hunt began for affordable clip in hair extensions.

Bonded hair extensions are not for everyone. While I absolutely adore them, they can be expensive, a lot of maintenance and not everyone wants to have hair applied that will last up to 6 months. I had previously bought clip in extensions from the shops on Moore street for around €40, but after a few wears they went to absolute rubbish. It’s true what they say, you get what you pay for. This time I wanted real hair extensions that would last, and look natural.

I have used them quite a bit for the last 3 months, so I should probably have let you in on them sooner!! Halo hair extensions use 100% human hair. Kinda sounds a little creepy doesn’t it? The extensions are applied to the hair using a halo type wire. I have included a video below to show you just how they are applied. The positioning of the wire secures the hair onto the head. While the wire secures the hair to the head, personally I found it to be a little on the loose side. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t going to budge anywhere, but I prefer something a little tighter to the head. I ended up getting clips from hairspray and sewing them onto the top of the extensions. It’s just a personal choice to want things tighter.

She showed me how to apply them and then cut them into a style to frame my face. I was absolutely chuffed with them. One thing I would say, if you prefer to wear your hair straight, unless your hair is the same length as they extensions you can see the mix of your own hair and the extensions, but once curled or even given a kink, they look seamless.

I can honestly say, these really got me out of a hole, while I waited to get my Gold Fever extensions in. As they last for years, I will absolutely be coming back to these in between my bonded extensions. The quality of the hair is fantastic and when washed and dried correctly they can last for a very long time. Will they stop me getting Gold Fever extensions in again. No, but they are a seriously high quality alternative for when I am in-between sets or for anyone who is looking for hair that they can take in and out again.

If you’re in the market for clip ins, I highly suggest that you give Lisa in Zinc a call and arrange a free consultation. Prices start at €140 for shorter styles up to €180 for seriously long hair!!! You can contact Lisa on her Facebook page here .

Yeah, I can imagine that it’s hard to go from having a thick head of hair with extensions to just your own natural hair again! The new extensions look great, your hair looks fantastic.

Hi Sinéad..I bought these extensions with the wire from Halo after reading your blog. They were amazing on me before I curled them! I had them on in my hair and then began to curl in the lowest heat possible. My own hair was fine but the Halo extensions melted and fried! The smell in the house was pungent too! I had to open the windows. It says they are 100% human hair on the box but I seriously think there must be some component of synthetic hair they don’t tell you about. Defo the worst extensions I ever got I have to say unfortunately. They are gone back in the post to Halo. 🙁

OMG You’re joking!!!! That must have been a faulty one as I have curled mine a number of times on a very high heat. Please tell me that they gave you your money back. That is not good at all. Im so sorry that you had this experience

Hi there….yeah I think they must have been out of a faulty batch….just posted them back today so fingers crossed I get a refund! I loved the idea of them and before I curled they looked so fab. I think I will wait a while before I chance them again. They are a much better concept than clip ins.
