How to cover dark circles

Screen Shot 2015-03-07 at 21.45.40For many people, dark circles are the bain of their life. No matter what way they do their makeup, the dark circles always seem to shine through and ruin everything, by making them look tired. I am one of these people. Everyday I battle with my dark circles. Some days are worse then others. It seems that no matter how much sleep I get, they are still there making me look exhausted.

dark circlesThere are many tricks and techniques in the makeup world to help you cover dark circles. While some techniques might work for one person, another will do the job for another person. For me the key to covering dark circles, is a brightening concealer with good coverage and most importantly setting your concealer with a good powder to avoid creasing and the wearing away of the product.

DSC_4199I recently wrote a post about my favourite concealers, which you can read here. For me a good concealer will have a medium to full coverage, while at the same time offer a brightness for the under eye area.

In the video below, I have shown you the technique I use to cover my dark circles. While the concealer and powder are interchangeable, I firmly believe that the Maybelline eraser is an absolute must for sufferers of dark circles. While it doesn’t cover the dark circles on it’s own, it works wonders with either Nars Radiant cream concealer, Mac Pro Long wear, or my favourite at the moment, the Urban Decay weightless Naked concealer.

Take a peak and the video below, and if you try my technique, let me know how you get on.

I kinda liked the star idea 😉 Seriously though, the result looks great, very fresh and bright.

Looks great! I have dark circles but also very (very very) dry under eye area. If I was to use this much product under there it’d be so cakey looking almost instantly. Any tips on how to avoid that?
I use a hydrating under eye cream and have tried many different types but I’ve never been able to solve the cakiness problem
