For anyone who follows me on Facebook, you will find this post comes with no surprise, as I have not stopped raving about this mascara for the last few months now. If I could only take 1 item of makeup with me to a desert island, it would be this. I may be living on nothing on that island, but my lashes would me massive for when I get rescued my a hot sailor.
The Smoky Extravagant is the latest mascara to launch under the Make Up For Ever brand. The mascara promises to add, volume, length and curl to your lashes. It contains new 4D technology that covers the lashes in seriously black pigment. If you like really black mascara, then I don’t think you are going to find anything blacker than this.
The Smoky Extravagant holds up to all of its promises. It lengthens my lashes longer than ever before, adds volume to the point that I don’t need false lashes and gives them a curl that an 1950’s starlet would be proud of.
The cone shape of the brush means that you can get right from the root of the lash to the very tip with even distribution of product. I do find that you are better off apply a light layer on one eye, then on the other and then build to your desired lash look. If applied too quickly and thickly it will slightly clump on you, but it is easy to separate out and it really is nothing major. In fact any problem I have had with this is a problem with my application rather than a product problem. I often rush my mascara when really you need to build it up. If you slowly build, you will get a look like I have never got before from a mascara. For me, 2 coats gives my lashes such a fabulous full look that people have commented on how amazing my lashes look, or how long they are or even as far as asking was I wearing false lashes?
The mascara wears well throughout the day and I don’t find it flaking or drying out. It is easy to remove, unlike some other lengthening and volumizing mascaras and I find it gentle on my lashes.
This is 100%, no holds barred, a holy grail mascara for me. When I put it on my lashes I can hear the angels in heaven singing praise for how fab my lashes look. It costs €23, which is a mid range price for a seriously high end product. You can buy it on the MUFE.IE website, or in store on Clarendon street. You also have the option to ring the store and the ladies will gladly post it on for you. Trust me, if you don’t mind spending a little above high street prices, you need this mascara in your makeup bag.
