For the past 18 months, there has been a constant stream of liquid lipstick releases. While we have seen some new regular lipsticks released, such as the Vice lipsticks, for the most part, brands have focused on capturing the popular liquid lipstick market. Yet not all releases are worth buying. Sometimes they are too drying, crack on the lips, wear badly, bleed, the list is endless and yet sometimes liquid lipsticks tick all the right boxes.
The Meet Matt(E) Huges collection is one of those liquid lipstick ranges that just ticks all the right boxes. Released last year, with new colours added in recent months, the most popular shades of these lipsticks are often hard to get hands on. There are 12 shades in the range with colours ranging from reds to pinks and nudes. As you can see from the picture above, I have quite the thing for the nude shades in this range. In fact, I can’t get enough of them! ( picture credit below: The Balm website) I often find with liquid lipsticks that texture and consistency can vary from shade to shade. Thankfully this is not the case with the Meet Matt(e) Hughes lipsticks. Each shade is nice and fluid without being runny. They apply beautiful to the lips and thankfully there is no bleeding of product from the lips.
Another issue that can befall liquid lipsticks is that they can be drying on your lips. Again, this is not the case with the Meet Matt(e) Hughes lipsticks. Once applied the product dries in a matter of seconds and doesn’t leave the lips feeling drier than Ghandi’s flipflop!!! I actually found these liquid lipsticks incredibly comfortable to wear.
The longevity of these lipsticks is also worth nothing. As they are a matte lipstick, they last really well throughout the day and I got a good 5 hours wear out of them. Wear time did depend on what I was eating or drinking though, as I did find they wore off a little if there was any sort of oil in my food. On the flip side, if you stick a lipliner all over your lips underneath you will get an incredibly long time out of these before you have to top up. I am currently trying out The Balm Pickup lipliners and they work really well with these, but I will review them individually at a later date.
As I mentioned above, I have 5 shades and to be completely honest each one is as beautiful as the other. If pushed, sincere or charming would be my favourites, but I really think each colour is a beautiful as the next.
Overall, I really love these and if more colours were released, I would be all over them too. You can buy TheBalm on Cloud 10 Beauty or both in store in Debenhams or online.
