5 must have lipliners

DSC_4425To follow on from my 5 Mac Netural lipliners that you need in your life, I have picked my 5 most used lipliners for today’s post. I have only recently started to build a lipliner collection and as a result of this I have a wish list as long as my arm. Most of the liners I want are Mac, as I absolutely adore the texture of Mac lip liners, but there are a numb of budget liners on my list too.

A lot of women don’t wearing lip liner, as they find it might look a little on the unnatural side, and possibly harp back to the severely over drawn lines of the 90s. The key to wearing liner to avoid it looking harsh, is to pick a colour that is close to the lipstick colour. Not rocket science really, but yet so many people still get it wrong!!

There are many benefits to wearing lip liner. Not only does it prevent your lipstick looking like a hot mess, it can make your lips look fuller , and help you to form your lip into your desired shape. While it seems the over drawn look is very “in” right now, it is best to stick close enough to your natural lip shape.

So without further ado, here are my 5 favourite lipliners to give you the perfect pout.

Mac Spice

DSC_4432Spice is a deep brown pink with slight orange undertones. I personally think this is the perfect colour for Irish skin tones, as while it does have a hint of the 90’s grunge lip, it is beautiful for defining, sculpting and lining the lips. I found it to be creamy and easy to apply. I have found at times that liners can drag on the lips, but not spice. Like with all Mac liners, you get a lot of product for €16. Spice lipliner is the perfect partner for Mac Velvet Teddy, NYX Thalia, or even with a little bit of creame cup if you’re looking for a little more of a defined line.

NYX Mauve

DSC_4435This is such a sought after and hard to find lip liner and it is not hard to see why. This is such a versatile liner and works with a range of different colours, including nudes and some pinks. It has been described as a dupe for Mac Whirl, but having swatched both, I can now see that Mauve is a little on the darker Muavey side, where as Whirl is more of a dusty rose colour. As the name would suggest Mauve is a light pink Mauve colour. It last well on the lips, and while it isn’t as soft as a Mac liner, for the price point it is fantastic. I got mine from Murray’s Pharmacy in Dungarvan. They are willing to post out any NYX orders if needs be.

NYX Peekaboo Neutral

DSC_4428Peekaboo neutral is a beautiful brownish pink colour. It isn’t overly pigmented, but instead adds a touch of colour to your lips. I love to wear this all over my lips, with Mac Creame cup on top. I find when paired this way, both colours really come into their own and last for ages! I have worn this with so many different lipsticks and find it is a great one to use if you are unsure will a colour match.

Mac Edge to Edge

DSC_4446I am beyond obsessed with this colour at the moment. It is just so unbelievably beautiful. This is a recent addition to the Mac lipliner range and already it is hard to get your hands on!! I mean come on Mac. Sort your stock issues out!! This is dirty pink with a blue tone to it. I have worn it on it’s own, with cream cup, snob and my favourite is to wear it all over the lip with Brave on top. If you’re going to buy one liner for Spring/summer make it Edge to Edge. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Rimmel Exaggerate in Eastend Snob

DSC_4437I have worn this lip liner so much, I have now run out, hence the fact you can’t see the tip in the picture above!! East End snob is a beautiful neutral pink colour, that gives the hint of your lips but better type of thing. It is super creamy to apply, but you need to only wind up the tiniest amount of product during application, otherwise it will break off on you. I lost so much product this way! This is a great colour for wearing on it’s own, or my favourite is to wear it with all over the lip with an NYX butter gloss on top.
