The USA shopping list

With so many of you lovely lot heading off to the States in the coming weeks and months, this is by far my most requested post I have had in a long time and even though I have written posts like this before, as well as a lot of Sephora and USA hauls, there is still a need for an updated list!! With so many must have brands now available in Ireland and with the Euro so weak against the dollar, my best advice when shopping in the States, is to buy stuff that you can’t get here. There really is no big savings to be found on brands that…

USA Haul part 1: The Drugstore Haul

Oh Lordy did I buy makeup!! I bought so much, that I am having to divide all my USA purchases into 3 separate videos!! The first of these videos is all about the drugstore and online buys. When it comes to drugstore makeup, there seems to be so many more products available in the States and also a much wider variety of shades. I find that the drugstore can be a little overwhelming at times, so it is good to go with a list of what you want to buy. To help make life a little easier for you, I am going to list my favourites places to shop for…

USA Haul

First off before you watch this, I need to apologise for the length of this video.I normally don’t like watching videos this long myself, but there was literally no way I could shorten it, without refilming it.  I actually thought that this was a restrained haul, but mother of god, this is one long ass video. I didn’t realise I bought so much, until I edited this video and saw just how much there was! Orlando is by far one of the best places for shopping in the States, and I have done a number of cities, but I never get as much as I do in Orlando. This haul is…

USA Wishlist

This time next week, I will be sipping drinks at the side of the pool in sunny Florida. I actually can’t wait. Sunshine and shopping for nearly 3 weeks. What better way is there to spend a holiday? Last January I went to Florida for a few weeks and did a little damage in the makeup department. While I bought a lot of really good stuff, I found my shopping was a little hap hazard. I bought so much stuff I needed 3 separate haul posts. This time I am going in with a list and while I might stray from the list, I am not going to go too…

The Final USA Haul

When I look back on my haul posts I realise I bought a serious amount of beauty products when I was away. This is the final haul of everything I bought and I did think long and hard before I bought almost all of these items. Clinique Dramatically different moisturising lotion I used to use this years ago and actually don’t know why I stopped. To me this is a good solid moisturising lotion that does exactly what it says on the skin. A little goes a long way and this will last me for months. I really like this moisturiser.  I have got one little gripe with this moisturiser and that…

USA Haul Part 2

My makeup collection has seriously grown on this trip. My wardrobe not so much. Im so disappointed with the clothes shopping and now I fear I am no longer able to shop!!! I have lost mo shopping mojo. Hourglass Ambient lighting powder in Dim light For those of you that haven’t heard of The hourglass Ambient lighting powders, they are basically finishing powders and highlighters that blur out fine lines and pores. I can’t rave about them enough and promise to do a full blog post on how they work asap. I was actually so annoyed that I bought this one as I already have it in my holiday palette.…

USA haul Part 1

Any of you that follow me on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, may already have gathered that I am in the USA. Orlando to be exact. I decided to book a little trip, as I start treatment when I get back. The sun has really given me a boost and helps in taking my mind off things.  The shopping helps too. That really helps. NYX Blusher in Mocha The reason there is only 1 NYX blush in this haul is because the stand only had 1 left. Otherwise I would have wiped them out myself. I love NYX. Their blushers are fab. So pigmented and easy to use. They are hard…

The Ugly Truth

Opinion: a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter * To the reader, blogging looks like a glamour whirlwind of events, photo opportunities and press drops. Yes, bloggers get products for consideration, attend events and are even jetted away on press trips. I have been lucky to do all three and this year in particular, I have been very fortunate to experience some really once in a lifetime opportunities. For some, what was once a hobby, has fast become a career and for the most part, blogging has changed how we source our information on cosmetics, food, fashion and so much more. However, there is one…

What to buy in Sephora!

I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but there seems to be a whole heap of you going off to the States. Every single day I get scores of messages asking for recommendations on what people should buy in Sephora, Macys, Ulta and more! So I decided an updated USA shopping list was in order. Thankfully over the past few years there have been quite a number of brands arrive in Irish store, that were normally only available State side. However, there are still a few that elude us, so here are my must have items from Sephora and more! Anastasia Beverly Hills While we can…

Gifts for the men ( or women) in your life

In our family, when it comes to buying gifts , the men in our lives are the hardest to by for. The reason for this being, they have either bought the things they want, or they keep telling us to not waste our money because they don’t need anything!!! To help you narrow down your search for gifts for your men, I have put together a small gift guide. It is worth noting that the majority of these gifts can be bought for women too and the only reason I didn’t include gadgets like these in my other gift guides,  is because this is a beauty blog, I felt it was appropriate…

CHARLOTTE TILBURY: MUST-HAVES, MAYBES AND MISSES

If this is your first time to encounter Sharon’s blog Behind Green Eyes, you have seriously been missing out. I love Sharon’s blog. She is beyond honest and absolutely hilarious. In fact she is hands down my favourite snap chatter. Her snaps crack me up on a regular basis. When I have a long list of snaps to view, hand on heart Sharon’s are the first ones that I watch. I have even been caught in public crying laughing at some of her snaps. She’s brilliant.  Sharon also has fantastically expensive taste in makeup, while at the same time she mixes it up with more budget brands. It blows my…

The Ultimate American beauty shopping list

Walking into a Sephora is one of the best and most overwhelming experiences for any beauty lover. No matter how prepared you are, there is always a moment of panic at the fear of missing out on a must have beauty item. The sheer volume of cosmetics on offer in the USA is enough to baffle even the most researched shopper. I travel to the States at least once a year and have honed my shopping skills to that of a fine art. Trust me. If there is a bargain I will hunt it out. When beauty shopping, most of the large department stores stock many major brands, but for me there really is…

La Roche Posay Cicaplast pro recovery

Everybody should have a break in case of emergency skin care product, and for me it is the la Roche Posay Cicaplast for the face. This stuff really is a wonder product. While I don’t have extremely sensitive skin, I am an extremely allergic person. I am allergic to so much stuff, medication, seafood, AHAs, PHPs and so much more. The list is endless. I normally don’t mind, as I have learned to stay away from the products, and foods I am allergic to. Howver, as I am constantly trying out new products on my face, being the allergic person that I am, I am bound to have a reaction…

EYESHADOW

Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette

It seems that every few weeks, a new eyeshadow palette is being released. The market is just flooded with eyeshadow palettes claiming to be the next best thing. Normally I tend to steer clear of palettes, as I find I never end up using half the shadows and I prefer to pick up individual colours from Mac or Inglot to create a specific look I want. However, that all changed when I saw the Too Faced Chocolate bar palette. It was love at first sight and I had to have. The hype around this palette was unreal. Every American blogger seemed to be talking about it, and loving it. This…

Glossybox June 2014

I had hoped that this post would be a video, but my camera has decided it wants to shut up shop and leave me, so I am back to the good old fashioned blog post . On Monday I received the June Glossybox. Glossybox had really fallen down in the quality of their boxes over the last number of  months, with many people I know and people I follow on twitter cancelling their subscriptions due to substandard boxes. Glossybox works out at around €16 per month, so you want to make sure you are getting value for your money. A lot of people, myself included, were very vocal in their…

Every so often a product comes into my life that just blows everything out of the water and makes me  get up, dance and sing sing songs of praise to the beauty gods who make these wonderfully amazing products. From the very first time I tried the Philosophy Microdelivery peel, I knew that I had found something truly wonderful.  Ladies and Gentlefolk, let me introduce to you the wonder product that is, The Philopophy Microdelivery vitamin C peptide peel.   For the last number of months I have been working on my skin care routine. While I am very happy with my day to day skin care, sometimes my…

Hi all, thanks for clicking onto The Beautiful Truth and taking a moment out of your day to read this blog.   I am a first time blogger and delighted to join the team but if I am honest, I am a little bit nervous about this. I hope my blogs will be informative and offer some inspiration to everyone reading. I am not sure what the best angle is to take and what people would be most interested in seeing me write about, so if you have any suggestions I would be more than delighted to take them on board!   So here it goes my first blog… I thought I’d write…

Irish Beauty Show Haul

Sunday saw the return of the ever popular Irish Beauty show to the RDS. This is a highlight for many beauty lovers throughout Ireland, as it is a great chance to see new and old brands up close and grab a bargain at the same time. I had debated if I could face the Sunday crowds, but decided to get up early and power through. I arrived at a little after 10 and already the place was jam packed. I could not get over how busy it was considering it had been open less then 10 minutes. There were people everywhere. At some stands, like the Crown brush stand, you…

Inglot Freedom system

Inglot Freedom system There is no denying it. I have an eyeshadow problem and my latest addition to this addiction is the Inglot freedom system. I mean, there is more eyeshadows to choose from than I could possibly dream of. Inglot palette For those of you that don’t know how it works, the Inglot Freedom system gives you the chance to create your own palette. The palettes come in 4s, 5s and 10s costing €6 each no matter the size. Each eyeshadow is €6. Which I think is seriously good value considering the size of the eyeshadows themselves. I bought 5 slot palette with 5 eyeshadows which cost €36 in…

Banish makeup wipes forever with the Cleanse off mitt

Last week I put up a picture of the Cleanse off mitt on The Beautiful Truth Facebook page. There was a lot of interest in this post and people were dying to know what it was and how they could get their hands on it. So what is it? The mitt is designed to take off every scrap of makeup by using just water and the mitt itself. There is no need for cleanser, just water and the mitt. It is designed with speed in mind. I mean we all know that we have to take our makeup off  at night but the effort of it is a right pain.…
