Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Genius

To me, a good set of brows can make or break a face. Trust me, I went around with practically invisible brows for long enough, that now I am on the hunt for THE perfect brow product.
10 years ago, browless and thinking I was only gorgeous
Anastasia Beverly Hills is the brow guru that a lot of  celebrities in the States visit to get the perfect shape brows. Unfortunately for me, and for many other 80s and 90s kids, our brows are far too often little tufts of scabby looking hair over our eyes, from years of over plucking to get any sort of a decent shape on them now. When I was in school in the 90’s it was the trend to shave, yes SHAVE, your eyebrows off and pencil them back in. Thank god I feared the wrath of my mother too much,  to take part in this trend, but it didn’t stop me plucking the living daylights out of my once beautifully bushy brows. As a result I have spent the last few years trying to grow some sort of a shape back into them. By using brow products, I can add some extra dimensions and give the look of more hair there than there actually is.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Genius
The Brow Genius kit comes with a setting gel, coloured powder and a handy travel size brow brush. It can be used it 2 or 3 different ways. You can just use the brow gel as normal through your brows, or use the powder alone, or as I use it, mix the 2 together to create a tint to use on the brows.
When using the Brow Genius, it is best to work quickly as my god does this stuff set fast. I mix a tiny bit of both the gel and powder in the lid of the powder and then begin to mark out the shape of my brows having brushed through them first. Small strokes work best to create the best look. When you get it right with this stuff you brows can look seriously amazing, but when you get it wrong. Well lets use say it is best of starting again when you get it wrong. The result looks very strong in this picture, but when you have all your makeup done, it tones down the strong brow look.
Before and after
The Brow Genius is waterproof and even in the lashing rain your eyebrows won’t budge. This also means if you make a mistake when doing your brows it is harder to correct.
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this product. I really love the finish I get when using it and many people have commented on how well my eyebrows look when it is applied. You can create a strong brow or a more subtle brow by controlling the measure of powder you use in the mix.

However, there are some down sides. First off it is messy enough to use. I hate doing my brows at the best of times, so the fact that I have to mix up the product first drives me insane. Secondly it sets too quickly, I find that sometimes I have to rush my brows to get them done before the gel sets. Finally, unless you are good at doing your brows stay well away from this product. It is too easy to go wrong.

If you are a fan of strong brows and have a good handle on creating a brow shape to suit you, then I would recommend this product. If you aren’t, well then the search continues. I will keep using the Brow Genius till it runs out, but I probably won’t buy it again. For me the hunt for my ideal brows goes on and I already know next on my list will either be the Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow, or the Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow pomade.
