I actually blame JLo for my unrealistic expectations of what you can do with bronzer and a bronzing brush. Seriously how does that woman look so well for 45!!! In my search for that JLo glow, I have gone through quite a number of bronzers in the hope of looking like a bronzed goddess. To help you guys narrow down your search, I have picked out 4 of my favourite bronzers to share with you.
Nars Laguna
When you ask people about Holy Grail products, the Nars Laguna bronzer pops up again and again. People can’t get enough of this product and as you can see from the picture, I am one of those people as I have hit pan, which is very rare for me.
The Laguna bronzer gives a gorgeous natural glow to the skin. It is a light – medium brown colour with a little bit of shimmer, but nothing that will make you look like a glitter ball.
One of the main reasons people love this bronzer is how easy it is to blend out. I have often been a little heavy with the bronzing brush and left my face looking dirty, but this blends out so well, you won’t get a dirty looking face or an Oompa loompa glow.
This is the perfect powder bronzer for contouring, while at the same time it is perfect for giving the skin a sun kissed glow.
You can buy Laguna in Brown Thomas for €35 or online here.
Mac Mineralise skin finish in Give me sun
This bronzer is seriously everything and more. Give me Sun is described as a ” light summer peachy tan” bronzer. This is the perfect bronzer shade for my skin tone and with a lighter touch, it would suit paler skin tones also. This is a fantastically buildable bronzer and the fact that it is matte, makes it perfect for contouring as well as bronzing areas of the face and neck.
The Texture of Give me Sun is exactly what you want in a bronzing/contouring powder. It goes on easily and blends like a dream, meaning you can avoid any harsh looking lines on your cheeks. It is long wearing and doesn’t break down during the day.
If I was to pick a favourite out of all the bronzers I have included it would hands down have to be this one. You can by Give me Sun from any Mac store for €30 or online here.
The Balm Bahama Mama
I am a massive fan of The Balm, with the Mary Lou Manizer being my absolute holy grail highlighter and the Bahama Mama bronzer is becoming a firm favourite in my bronzer rotation. Yes, there are so many bronzers I rotate what bronzers I uses every few days!!
Bahama Mama is a matte medium bronze colour with a grey tone to it. This makes it perfect for contouring as well as bronzing. It looks a lot darker in the pan than when applied, and due to the buttery texture, it is easy to lightening the bronzer if you apply too much. This is a good colour for both fair and medium toned skin. You can buy The Balm Bahama mama bronzer for €17.50, along with other Blam products from Simply Foxy here.
IsaDora Bronzing powder
I use the IsaDora bronzing powder in a slightly different way to the others. This mid tone brown, is perfect for bronzing up my check and for giving a quick sweep of colour over the areas on the face that the sun would hit. Such as the forhead and down the nose.
The texture of this is very smooth and the powder itself is finely milled. It lasts well throughout the day, and due to the natural colour it doesn’t leave you looking like an oompa loopa. This large bronzer is perfect for recreating that summer glow. You can buy it from Sam McCauley’s for €25.95 here.
