If you are a lover of matte lipsticks, then listen up.You NEED these in your life. You need to get yourself down to your closest Bourjois stand and get your hands on as many of these as possible. They are just that good.
I am a big fan of matte lipsticks, but often find that they can be too drying on my lips, and my lips end up looking flaky half way through the day/night.That is not the case with these. The Bourjois Rouge Edition velvet lipstick is said to have a soft velvet finish that is non drying on the lips. Bourjois claim that this has 24 hour lasting power and will feel light weight on your lips. It comes in 8 vibrant colours, ranging from a nude to a very eye popping pink. So how did they work out?
I bought 2 Pinks to try out. Pink Pong and Olé Flamingo. You know me and my pinks! Both colours are highly pigmented and set to a matte finish on the lips. They don’t dry out on the lips like many matte products. While they aren’t drying, if you suffer from dry lips, you might want to prepare you lips by exfoliating before wearing and they can cling to dry patches, but then what product doesn’t?
As I mentioned above, Bourjois claim that these lipsticks have a 24 hour lasting powder. I don’t know what planet they are on with a 24 hour claim like this, but they are very long lasting. Once applied, they begin to wear off after about 3-4 hours. When they wear off they leave a vibrant stain on you lips they only comes off with a very strong makeup remover. They do transfer quite a bit and on a night out my wine glass had a ring of pink all around it!!!
The Bourjois Rouge Edition velvet comes with a slanted foam applicator They apply to the lips easily using this applicator and the applicator navigates the edge of the lips easily so you don’t end up with lipstick half way up your face. You are better off building up the product, rather than going in with a huge amount, as a little goes a long way.
Overall I really like this lipstick. It doesn’t travel throughout the day, so I can wear a bright matte with confidence. I prefer the Pink Pong colour over the Olé Flamingo, as it just suits my skin tone better. I am wearing Pink Pong in the picture above. They retail at €10.99, which is a little more on the expensive side for a drugstore brand, but it is worth it. You can buy them at all Bourjois stands or online here.
