Last September, the Charlotte Tilbury Makeup range launched with great excitement in the newly renovated beauty hall in Brown Thomas. This was a much hyped launch, as with over 20 years in the beauty industry, and a client list that includes, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Penelope Cruise, Charlotte knows what women want and has created a range of beautiful products to help every woman create the perfect look to feel like a superstar.
What really makes the Charlotte Tilbury collection stand out, is the 10 makeup looks known as the ” Tilbury Transformation”. Charlotte has created 10 different looks, so that every woman can find the perfect look to suit every occasion. Dotted around the beauty counter in Brown Thomas, is pictures of the 10 looks with the products needed to create each look on display underneath. With natural looks such as The Ingenue, right the way up to the sultry Rebel, these looks will certainly turn heads.
I was instantly drawn to the Vintage Vamp. I love a smoky eye, but really don’t like putting blacks near my eyes, as it makes them appear smaller, so this palette was right up my street. The palette contains 4 different colours. a prime colour, which is a light dusty pink colour. The enhance colour, which is a matte light burgundy colour. The smoke colour is a much deeper burgundy and is so beautiful it would make your eyes water and finally the pop colour, which is a god glitter to place on top of the lid when you’re all done.
On the back of the Vintage Vamp palette the colours are numbered to show you where to place them. I love this idea, as it means even those who aren’t the most confident in applying strong colours can create a beautiful look.
The colour payoff on these shadows is exceptional, especially with the enhance and smoke colour. I do find the prime colour in the Vintage Vamp palette, a little more gritty and it doesn’t apply as smoothly, but to be honest this is a small price to pay when you see how beautiful the colour is once on the eyes. The shadows wear exceptionally well throughout the day and night and I had no creasing and minimal wear off throughout a long night. In fact my makeup was near perfect when I came home.
I can’t talk about the Vintage Vamp palette without mentioning the beautiful packaging. It is just so luxurious. I mean who doesn’t love a little bit of old school beauty. I also love the fact that they haven’t included one of those sponge eyeshadow applicators. I mean who still uses them?
So the question I’m sure you’re all wondering, is if it is worth the €50 price tag. My answer to this is absolutely yes, the quality of the shadows, the long wear time , the fantastic colour payoff and the beautiful packaging, make these palettes a must have item. However, this is something that you would buy as a treat to yourself or a present to someone else. These palettes are special. They are not to be thrown down the bottom of the makeup drawer, only to be remembered every so often. They deserve love and affection and to be used often. If you’re someone, who tends to stick to the same one or two looks, then these palettes are going to be an absolute godsend to you. For the makeup addicts out there, you can’t ignore the Charlotte Tilbury palettes for much longer, because in my opinion, they are completely worth the hype.

December 21, 2014 at 11:54 amOh no! This was the one I wanted at the very start and I talked myself out of it in favour of the more wearable Fallen Angel one instead, but now that I see this on you it’s so pretty, so subtle and so wearable, I think I want it again….quite badly…

December 21, 2014 at 10:41 pmIt looks so beautiful on you but I know those colours would really draw attention to my VERY bad eye bags. Have you tried the wonder glow potion? Wondering if it’s worth the steep price tag?
