Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator

DSC_4228When it comes to skin care, many people consider Dermalogica to be one of the best brands you can use to get beautiful looking skin. However, for whatever reason, it has been a brand that I have completely overlooked. The daily microfoliant exfoliator is the first product I have used from the Dermalogica range. Shock Horror, I know!!

I am a huge fan of daily exfoliators, but the daily microfoliant exfoliator is a little different from any daily exfoliator I have used before. It is a Rice-based powder that you mix with water to make a paste to exfoliate your skin. It is recommended that you dispense a half tea spoon of the powder onto wet hands and mix together to get a paste. As I normally exfoliate my skin while I am in the shower in the morning, at first I found this powder to be a bit of a disaster. I kept dispensing too much product, or my hands were far too wet. However, once I got used to it I found it handy to have in the shower to exfoliate my skin. I would however recommend, that you use a little more than half a teaspoon and have damp hands rather than soaking wet hands to work up a good paste.

IMG_7561_2It is recommended to massage the paste into you’re skin in circular motions for a minute, but let’s be far, I personally haven’t got the time for that in the shower and a quick scrub does me.

It is difficult to describe the texture of the daily microfoliant exfoliator. Most exfoliators that I have used in the past have been grainy and what you would think of as a traditional scrub. However, even though this is an exfoliator there are little or no scrubbing particles in the paste. The paste instead gently buffs the surface of the skin to get rid of the dead skin. It is said to not only does it get rid of skin, but it helps brighten up the skin to make it look more radiant, while at the same time giving the skin a more even tone. While it does smooth out the skin and brighten it, I personally don’t find any drastic results, but it does do what it says on the tin.

IMG_7563The daily microfoliant is said to be gentle enough to use everyday, however, my skin broke out big time when I did use it everyday. I have now pulled it back to every second day and I seem to have the breakout under control.

While I do like the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator, I am not completely blown away by it. To be fair, it is a good product and one that I know a lot of people swear by, but for me I prefer something a little more grainy, like the Philosophy Micro delivery daily exfoliator.  It does buff away the dead skin and your skin does look brighter, but I personally just prefer the results from the Philosophy daily exfoliator. It is a personal choice, rather than a problem with the product. You will still see results fro the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator.

The Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator is also good value, as you get 75g of product, that will certainly last for a long time.

If you think you might like to give the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator a go, or in fact what to repurchase a bottle, Bella Beauty have it in stock on the online store here for €47.25 . They also have a massive selection of the Dermalogica range and they deliver super fast too.

Sounds alright. But since I’m having such great experiences with my Paula’s Choice BHA lotion I’m just gonna stick to that one.

I love this but I’m the same I can only use it once or twice a week as it makes my skin over oily if I use it more frequently.

    Hiya
I am a daily user of the daily microfoliant and as a beautician who started working with dermalogica from home I discovered I was using the product incorrectly for a year!!! I discovered this during my dermalogica training. The product is to be lathered up to a think foam (like when shampooing your hair) before applying it to your face for 30-60 seconds ,not a paste, to activate the ingredients. You add Some water to product on hand and rub them together vigorously till it’s a thick white foam and that’s what you use on your face so there are almost no particles but a foam. Hope this helps
