Glossybox April 2014

So here’s the thing. When I received last months Glossybox and saw the absolute dismal contents I decided that it was time to cancel. When I went into my Glossybox account, I saw that I had enough points to get a free box in April. What better way to give them one last chance. Well here’s the thing. Glossybox really messed up for me this month. I have had my fill of not only their hit and miss boxes, but their absolutely appalling attitude to their Irish customers.

Irish customers receive their boxes about a week after their Uk counterparts. This is not always the case, but for the most part this is how I found it work. This actually doesn’t bother me, as due to distance etc it takes longer to deliver. However, some bright spark in Glossybox HQ decided that they would ship a whole load of April’s boxes to bloggers, celebrates and other people in the media in Ireland almost a week before normal subscribers received their boxes. As a result of this, I saw at least 5 different people post pictures of the contents on Twitter and Facebook. There were many more that gave spoiler warnings so you didn’t actually see what was inside. This has annoyed me beyond belief. The whole point of Glossybox for me is the surprise.

Not only did I see the contents due to PR boxes, but last week Glossybox sent me an email asking me to fill in a survey of what I would like to see in future boxes. When I clicked on the link it brought me to my account, where low and behold there was a list of the items that would be in my box. Seriously!!!! Are you having a laugh? Why don’t you just ring me and say, “hey Sinéad here’s what’s going to be in this month’s box”. How is this happening. I subscribe to 1 other box and I have never had a problem with seeing contents before the box is delivered.

I finally received my Glossybox this morning. Talk about an anticlimax. In fact it sat on the counter top for a few hours, until I needed to take pictures for this blog post. Glossybox ruined the surprise and have taken the niceness out of the box for me. I am so over Glossybox.

In saying that, the contents of this months box were actually ok. Not amazing, but ok.

Emite Makeup lip brush

I am a fiend for makeup brushes. So this will come in handy. This brush is made from synthetic taklon hair and costs £17.

MonuSpa warming Ginger Massage and body oil

I have actually lost count of the amount of Monu products that have been included in Glossyboxes. It is not a brand I am overly found of either. This massage and body oil promises to leave the skin smooth and supple. A full size will cost £25, I received a 30ml sample costing around £7.50.

MeMeMe Cosmetics Beat the Blues

This is another full size product. I am a fan of MeMeMe cosmetics and this will go to good use. It is cream highlighter which is a great dupe for the Benefit High Beam. This bottle costs £12, but MeMeMe cosmetics can now be found in a large range of pharmacies in Ireland.

SunSense Uk Daily Face SPF 50

This is a tinted moisturised with an SPF 50. I like the idea of it and may pull it out during the summer. A full size bottle costs £20.99 for 75g. I got a 10g tube costing around £2.80

He-Shi Professional tanning face and body gel

This is another full size product. It is said to be a high proforance tan with pro vitamin B5 and aloe vera.It is a tan that give instant colour. This will 100% be put to use. I have heard of He-Shi before, but never had the chance to try it out. A 50ml bottle will set you back £7.99
While the contents of this box are good, Glossybox have pushed me too far. Months of bad boxes, repeat brands, late deliveries, and PR boxes going out first, has pushed me over the edge. I have now cancelled my box and once will stick to my Powder Pocket box till after my holidays, when I will sign up for the Chic Treat club box too.
Did I do the right thing cancelling? What do you think of this months box?
