Glossybox June 2014

photo-2I had hoped that this post would be a video, but my camera has decided it wants to shut up shop and leave me, so I am back to the good old fashioned blog post .

On Monday I received the June Glossybox. Glossybox had really fallen down in the quality of their boxes over the last number of  months, with many people I know and people I follow on twitter cancelling their subscriptions due to substandard boxes. Glossybox works out at around €16 per month, so you want to make sure you are getting value for your money. A lot of people, myself included, were very vocal in their reviews of the boxes, and how the standard just wasn’t acceptable. Finally, I think the people in Glossybox have gotten a serious kick up the backside as they have upped their game big time with last months box and this box. There are still a few issues, such as delivery time to the Irish customers and the fact that PR boxes go out nearly a week before Irish customers get their box, but I have been informed by the people at Glossybox, that improving the Irish market is something that they are really focusing on.

DSC_0010I did have a fair idea what was coming in this months box. I hate when bloggers put the actual contents of the box up on Facebook and Twitter!! There really is no avoiding what is inside the box when they do that. Even though I had an idea, there was still a little gasp of happiness when I opened the box to see the contents. Yes Glossybox, this is how a subscription box should look. Don’t change anything. You have finally got the formula right.

Nip + Fab – CC eye Fix

DSC_0020I have heard a few things about the Nip + Fix brand lately and found a few of their products popping up in my Twitter timeline. This is an eye cream and concealer in one and like any good CC product, it is said to brighten and lift the appearance of the eye area. Those of you that have been reading my blog for a while, will know I struggle with dark circles. I am all about trying new concealers and if this one lifts and brightens the eye area as well as concealing, then it is game on. This is a great product to have in a subscription box. This is a full size product at retails for £9.95

Teeez Trend Cosmetics -Beautiful Flat stuff brush

1gbI love getting makeup brushes in subscription boxes. I think they are the ideal product to include, as it doesn’t matter about skin type, colour preference , they literally suit every one. I have never heard of this brand before, but sure that doesn’t bother me when it comes to makeup brushes. I do find the brush hair on this brush is a little scratchy on the eye area, as I prefer a much softer brush as I have sensitive eyes. This is another full size product and costs €19

So Susan Cosmetics -Universal Blush

2bgThis is another brand which I haven’t heard of before, but another great product to have in the box. Makeup makes us ladies happy. This powder blush is said to work with the chemistry in your skin to create a natural looking flush of colour. I really liked the colour of this and will give it a go over the next few days. I do feel however that it is a little saucy at £18! This is another full size product.

got2b – Rise ‘n Shine souffle

DSC_0014Love when there are full sized hair care products included in a subscription box. Hate that I can’t use them because of my extensions. Lads extensions are high maintenance  and seriously restrictive as to what products you can use. This Rise “n Shine soufflé is said to add texture, volume and shine. Who doesn’t love big hair? The bigger the hair the closer to God!!!!  If I didn’t have my extensions in I would be all over this. A tub of this costs £4.07

QV Skincare – QV Skin Lotion

DSC_0042This was the only sample size product and also the most disappointing product in the box. Ok, so it wasn’t a sachet, but for some reason I just felt that this little bottle was an after thought. Glossybox had done such a good job of filling the box with full sized products, that they needed a fifth product. The skin lotion is said to be a dry skin relief as well as a makeup remover. This will be one for the travel drawer and pulled out when flying Ryanair and space in limited. This little sample works out at 36p

DSC_0045Over all I would say that this box is a massive improvement on previous boxes.Four full sized products in a box is impressive and when you add up the contents of the box it works out at around €65 . It seems that finally the people in Glossybox HQ are putting some decent products into the box.  I would love to see products for more well know brands included, but at the same time it is good to try new and unknown brands and products. It will be interesting to see if they keep this up, or will it fade back into the standard of previous boxes.

For those of you that are wondering why I am review a Glossybox when I said I was going to cancel. This is a PR sample, but that has in now way swayed my opinion on the box, and I like always have given my full and honest thoughts on the product.

I received mine this month and was delighted. Loved the blusher except that mine was all broken up so I’m waiting to hear back from glossy box customer care to see what they will do about it! I’m praying they don’t let me down as I will end up cancelling subscription here’s hoping .. As I really love the glossy box treat every month

oh no that’s unfortunate. They are packed so well, you would wonder was it broken before it went in. I heard they are very good at replacing damaged products

Thanks Sinead hopefully they are. This is what I thought it must have been broken before it was packaged. Hopefully they get back to me soon and let me know 🙂
