Highlighting products for glowing skin

Highlighting your face gives your skin a beautiful glow and helps you either minimise or maximise the features you want to change. When highlighting picking a good shade is really important. You can either go for a shade that is close to your skin tone, or as I like to do a shade slightly lighter than your foundation/skin tone. It is important never to go darker for highlighting. Nobody wants mucky looking skin. I like to use a product that has a bit of a glow or shimmer to it. I said shimmer not glitter. Nobody wants to look like they were tackled by Tinker bell.

Where to apply highlighter *

There are loads of highlighting products on the market both high end and affordable brands. I have spent many years looking for the perfect highlighting product and I have now found two gems.

Soleil Tan De Chanel Sheer illuminating fluid

First up is the Soleil Tan De Chanel Sheer illuminating fluid. I started using Chanel illuminating fluid a few years ago. It is a sheer, light weight liquid that instantly brightens your skin. It contains light reflecting pigments that gives your skin a radiant look. I use this in 2 different ways. Firstly I sometimes mix a drop of the illuminating fluid in with my foundation so that it gives a lovely glowy look to my skin. The other way I use it, and where this product really shines, is for highlighting. I put a very small amount of the liquid above my cheek bones, on my brow bone, down the centre of my nose and on my cupids bow. Basically anywhere the light hits so that my skin looks like reflecting. I really love this product and it will be one I buy again and again. It is slightly expensive at €38.50 but it is money well spent and it lasts for ages. I have mine over a year and a half and I am only half way through the bottle. You can buy it here.

The second product is a much more affordable one but just as good ( if not better) than the Chanel illuminating liquid. The Sleek makeup highlighting powder is one of my favourite products. It can be bought as part of the Face Contour Kit or The Face Form contouring and blush palette. I apply this to the same places as the Chanel but this powder goes ontop of my setting powder. I use my Crown brush K49 Professional pointed blush brush to apply this powder. I really love how this powder reflects the light. If you are looking to get chiselled cheek bones then this is the highlighting product for you. I use the Face form Kit in light, however, when I go to repurchase this product, I will buy it in fair shade as the bronzing powder is a little too dark for me.

When buying the Sleek highlighting powder I would recommend that you buy it as part of the Face form palette as the rose gold blush is gorgeous and it works out at really good value for the 3 products. The Sleek Face form palette is €12.99 and can be bought here, while The Contour Kit is €7.99 and can be bought here.  It had previously been difficult to buy Sleek products in Ireland but they have finally launched here. I actually let out a little squeal when I saw the stand in Boots Liffey Valley.

I actually have the original sleek palette (got it before the 3 in 1 came out) and I really like it, Sleek are such a fab brand. That Chanel looks really interesting too!
