The Theme of this month’s box was Viva Brazil. The people at Powder Pocket want to bring a little bit of the Brazilian samba to our lives. Apart from the colours of this months tissue, I am just not getting the feel of a Brazil from this box at all. In saying that, themes don’t bother me and it is all about the contents of the box.
I am not going to lie, I am a little disspoainted with this months box. Firstly for the second month running, the box was late. This is the June box and yet it arrived on July 2nd. This to me is just not good enough. The box needs to arrive on time.
Secondly yet again, there was no full sized product. I was always under the impression that there should be at least 1 full sized product in each box. While the brands that Powder Pocket work with are fantastic. The size of the samples and the lack of a full sized product is not good.
Finally, my box was covered in oil. I don’t know what exactly leaked, but everything was covered in a greasy oil. While this is not Powder Pockets fault as such, it just really annoyed me when the other two items above were taken into consideration.
Maybe I am just a fussy cow and expect too much, but have a look at the contents below and let me know what you think.
Dr Hauschka – Almond soothing bath essence
Dr Hauschka is a brand that I have used and loved for a long time. This is a sample size product and we received 10ml. From what I can gather from the instructions this is enough for one or possibly two uses. I don’t have a bath, so this is not something that I am going to use. A full size costs €22.49 for 100ml. This sample size costs €2.25
Pixy Natural Skincare – Lime body scrub
This is described as being the ideal product for removing fake tan. I am not too sure how to describe it exactly, but from what I can gather is looks very like a bar of soap, that when applied it melts into the skin leaving your skin feeling silky and smooth. You use one cube at a time and they can be used before applying fake tan, or to get rid of the last of the tan. Again this is a sample size, as you normally get 6 cubes in one packet. A full packet of 6 costs €5.95 making this sample worth around the €1 mark.
Nia Intensive Restoring moisturiser
This is not a brand have heard of before. It is said to contain 100% natural ingredients and can be used both morning and night. This is not something I am going to use, due to the fact it absolutely stinks. I am very sensitive to smell, but this really got stuck in my nose. This is also a sample size and while there is no measurement on it, I wouldn’t think it is more than 5ml. A full size of 50ml costs €24.95, making this around the €2.50 mark.
Shiseido- Avance body creator- super slimming reducer
This is a brand that has featured in Powder Pocket box a few times. This cream is a gel that is said to provide a powerful slimming and anti cellulite effect. I am always sceptical of things like this. To me the only thing that is going to get rid of my fat, is if I stop shoving rubbish into my mouth and get out for a walk. Again this is a sample size and with a full size of 200ml costing €62, this sample size works out at around €9
The Body Shop – Super volume Mascara
I am a big fan of The Body shop makeup, so I was happy to see this in the box. I haven’t tried it out yet, nor will I for a while due to my lashes, but this has come to a good home. It is a sample size of 2.5ml. A full size of 10ml costs €15.95 meaning the sample costs €3.99
As an extra item, The body shop included a voucher for a free treading. This is a nice touch.
The total cost of this box was around the €18.74 mark. When you consider the box costs €15 this is not great value for money at all this month.
I know I sound like a complete moan and that nothing is ever going to make me happy, but the contents of this box are just not great. I really like the people at powder pocket and I would love to see them do well, but they really need to up their game and get a few things in order. I am going to give them another month or two before I make my decision if I am going to keep up my subscription or not.
I would love to know what you guys think.

July 3, 2014 at 6:26 pmUgh, no. I wouldn’t use anything in that box at all bar the mascara, and I wouldn’t be happy paying €15 for a trial size. I don’t live near any branch of The Body Shop, so that voucher wouldn’t be used, I don’t use tan and have a favourite scrub, so the cube wouldn’t be used. The Nia thing doesn’t appeal to me, and the fat-shifting cream would want to be the size of an oil tanker to make mine dissolve. Also it’s not remotely brazilian themed?
The timing of the boxes really confuses me. I saw Powderpocket hyping this box up, and messaged them on July 1st to ask if I signed up now, what box would I receive – the answer was that I’d get the July box, but this is only the June one, so I’d be waiting until August?! I’ve logged on several times – probably every month – and almost bought a box, but no. I’m sticking to my original opinion, if I want to spend €15 on beauty products I’ll go to boots and get a 3 for 2 or buy one decent thing.
Thanks for a great, clear, honest review x

July 3, 2014 at 6:38 pmI really was thinking it was me being fussy, but when you put it like that i can really see that it wasn’t me at all but the box. The timing of the box is all over the place. It all just comes off very unprofessional.

July 3, 2014 at 6:33 pmTotally agree, I was so unimpressed by this box. The mascara was the only thing I was in anyway interested in. Also, I live in Wexford so the eyebrow threading voucher from The Body Shop is useless to me 🙁 Very disappointing, I have liked their previous boxes but this one was a huge let down!!!

July 3, 2014 at 6:39 pmFor me this is the 2nd box that hasn’t been good. I did get good use out of last month’s box, but the lack of a full size product really let it down. I won’t use the threading voucher either. I really feel that they let themselves down with the contents and the late delivery.

July 3, 2014 at 7:31 pmI completely agree!! This months box was a total joke!! It’s basically theft just giving out samples and making people pay for it!! The only think I can use is the mascara too. And like many others, I’m pretty sure the closest Body Shop to me is 100 miles away so, the voucher is useless.. They make such big promises and they put so much effort into all the lovely packaging that it makes no sense to me why it would seem they don’t care about the content!! It’s such a pity.. I don’t want to have to unsubscribe!!

July 3, 2014 at 8:38 pmI don’t want to have to unsubscribe either. I really like the people at Powder Pocket, but I agree there seems to be no thought put into this month’s contents.

July 3, 2014 at 10:54 pmAh, here. I’d be so disappointed if I got that. Nothing exciting at all, and chemists will give out those samples for nothing!

July 4, 2014 at 12:14 amThat’s exactly it Lorraine. Most of the contents can be gotten anyway
