Have you ever gone into a Mac store and wanted to make a purchase but been completely overwhelmed by all the products? With so many products to pick from, it is hard to know exactly what is worth parting with your cash for. To help you treat yourself to something special, I have picked out my top 5 products. I didn’t include any lipsticks or eyeshadows, as to be honest, they deserve a whole post to themselves, there are just so many good ones. I promise to get one of those up soon!!
Mac Fix +
As you can see from my almost empty bottle, Mac Fix + is a firm favourite of mine and one I use every single day. This is such a hard working multi tasking product that I can’t get enough of.
Fix + is sold as a setting and reviving spray, but there is so much more to it. I firstly use it to prime my skin before applying my makeup. I find that this instantly refreshes my skin and leaves it ready for my primers and foundations.
Secondly, I use it to set my makeup once I am finished applying everything. I personally don’t find it holds my makeup in place all that well, as I use the Urban Decay setting spray for this, but what it does do is it stops my foundation caking or looking heavy on the skin. Not only that but if your makeup needs a little bit of a pep throughout the day, a quick spritz of Fix + will give it a little bit of life again. There are so many more uses too, including dampening your makeup sponge, or spraying on your brushes to give eyeshadows more intense colour. You absolutely need this in your stash. You can buy it in two sizes. A handy handbag size of 30ml for €10 or 100ml for €21.
Pro Longwear foundation
Those of you that have been reading the blog for a while, will know that Mac Pro Longwear is my absolute holy grail foundation. I have gone through countless bottles of this and have it in a number of shades to suit my skin colour throughout the year! This is a fast setting fluid foundation, that sets to a satin finish. In fact if you like a real flawless finish to your skin, then this is a real winner for that. It can look a tiny bit flat at times, so I something mix in a liquid highlighter to give it a glow. It is a medium to medium full coverage foundation, that has excellent lasting power. To find out more details, you can read my full review here.
One thing you might not know about Mac foundations, is that you can ask for a sample. I know sometimes it can be a little intimidating to ask for these, but honestly the staff in Mac stores in Brown Thomas are more than willing to help you pick a colour and get a sample. I never ever buy a foundation without trailing it first, it saves so much money in the long run. You can buy Pro Longwear for €36.50.
Prep + Prime Highlighter pen
The Prep + Prime highlighter pen is yet another product that I have bought again and again. I’m always asked to recommend liquid highlighters and this is right up there at the top of my list. The Prep + Prime pen comes in 4 different shades. Bright Forecast, which is a peachy colour , Radiant rose, which is a light pink colour, Peach lustre which is an slightly orange shade, but perfect for highlighting darker skin tones and finally Light Boost which is a soft yellow colour. I’ve used both Radiant rose and Light boost and personally my preference is for light boost. I just love how it not only covers my dark circles but also brightens up the under eye area and highlights and other areas I apply it to. The pens last a few months and are well worth splurging on. You can read a full review here. Each pen retails at €25 .
Mineralise skin finish natural in Give me Sun
Give me Sun is described as a ” light summer peachy tan” bronzer. This is the perfect bronzer shade for my skin tone and with a lighter touch, it would suit paler skin tones also. This is a fantastically buildable bronzer and the fact that it is matte, makes it perfect for contouring and bronzing.
The Texture of Give me Sun is exactly what you want in a bronzing/contouring powder. It goes on easily and blends like a dream, meaning you can avoid any harsh looking lines on your cheeks. Seriously there is no need for a harsh looking contour with this bronzer. It feels lightweight on the skin and the fact that is is so finely milled and matte makes it look lovely and natural on the skin. It is a little expensive at €31 but I have been using mine for over a year now and I haven’t hit pan yet!! You can read a full review here and pick up your own here.
I am sorry to include these Lustre drops, as they are limited edition. However, the reason I have included them, is they are very often in the limited edition collections that are released throughout the year and I wanted them to be at the forefront of your mind when they are next released.
The lustre drops has two main functions. Firstly you can mix in a few drops with your foundation to give it more of a dewy finish. Secondly, it can be applied to the high points of the cheeks to give a serious glow that can be seen from space highlighted look. These lustre drops are honestly the most beautiful liquid highlighter that I have tried. They are light weight, don’t add any extra texture to your foundation and yet give such a beautiful, beautiful glow to the skin!!!
Next time you see these being released, grab them!!!!
