Mac Prep + Prime |
Oh sweet baby Jesus in the manger, I may have found a new holy grail cream highlighter. Each time I twist this little baby, I can hear the angles in heaven singing a song of praise for it’s complete and utter beauty. Mac prep + prime highlighting pen really is a thing of beauty.
I am a huge fan of cream products for contouring as I feel it gives a much more natural finish. Don’t get me wrong, I do love my powders and I have a feeling at the moment that I won’t be able to live my life much longer without Nars Laguna bronzer, but for me you get a much better contoured look with crew, products. It has taken me a very long time to be able to contour and I have at times gone out resembling Bosc, but before Christmas I went to a makeup class with Deb and Elaine in the Closer2fabolous to fabulous studio and now I can finally contour properly. Hallelujah. If you are looking for one on one makeup classes or even group classes, I highly recommend contacting these guys.

Ok, Ok back to the amazing highlighting pen. The Prep + primer highlighter is part of Mac’s permanent collection and comes in 4 different shades. Bright Forecast, which is a peachy colour , Radiant rose, which is a light pink colour, Peach lustre which is an slightly orange shade, but perfect for highlighting darker skin tones and finally Light Boost which is a soft yellow colour.

Prep and prime radiant rose |
I bought this highlighter in Radiant Rose. This is a sheer coverage highlighter, that brightens up the skin and is seriously amazing for contouring. This is possibly the best cream contouring product I have used in a very long time, if not ever. However, in saying that I believe that Light Boost is even better and once my spending ban is over I am all over it.
I apply this on top of my foundation and use my Sigma F86 tapered kabuki brush to buff it into the skin. As I have very dark circles, this does not work as a concealer for me and I find that my Mac prolong wear concealer is the perfect partner with it. I will at some point, when I get over my fear of Youtube put up a video or at least pictures of how i contour, but until you should check out Jaclyn Hills method below as this is very close to how I do it and it is really easy to follow. Actually now that I am talking about her, Jaclyn Hills makeup videos are actually all really good and easy to follow. You should subscribe to her channel to find easy step by step ways of applying makeup
The pen itself costs €24.50 and can be bought here or at most Mac counters. I can’t say how long the pen will last for, but I will 100% be buying this again when it does eventually run out . I am completely and utterly in love with this product and if you are a fan of contouring, you really need it.
