May Powder pocket box

Earlier in the week my May Powder Pocket box arrived. The theme of this month’s box was “sweet Treat”. Let’s be honest, Who doesn’t like a sweet treat. This month’s box was a little different than normal, as the box was a fab powder blue colour. Much nicer than the usual black colour.

You might be wondering why the May review is being posted so late. Well the May box didn’t actually arrive until June 4th. This actually didn’t bother me that much because they only took the money out a few days before hand, but the boxes really should be delivered in the month intended. I’m not getting my knickers in a twist over this, as normally they are very reliable with delivery and everyone has a slip up once. Let’s hope it is just the once.

My first impression of this month’s box was very mixed. While I really like most of the brands involved. The lack of a full size product was very disappointing. As far as I am concerned, there should be at least one full size product in every box. Even though the samples included are of high end brands, there needs to be a full size product, and I think the lack of one has really let this box down. However, when you take a look at what is in the box, it is actually an ok box, not amazing, but ok.

Nimue Exfoliating enzyme

I was delighted to see a Nimue product in this month’s box. I have heard a lot of really good things about Nimue and had looked at buying this particular product a few months back, but the bank balance just wouldn’t allow it. The Exfoliating Enzyme is a non irritating, non abrasive exfoliator, that helps to stimulate blood circulation without irrupting your skin. I regularly exfoliate my skin, as it gives your skin new life again, so this will absolutely be put to good use. Considering a full size is 60ml, this 30ml sample is a great sized sample. Ciaté Mini Nail Polish

I am actually ashamed to admit that I have never tried a Ciaté nail polish before. I should really hang my head in shame and skulk off to a corner somewhere. Everyone seems to love these polishes, so when I saw a gorgeous red called boudoir included in the box I was delighted. I am thinking I might give this a spin when I head to London in 2 weeks for the Company magazine wards. Again this is a sample size, but I have never even put a dent in a full sized nail polish, never mind finish one, so this size is perfect. A full size costs €10.95, the sample size works out at around €4.20

Great Lengths shampoo

This will come as no surprise to you that I am chuffed this is in the box. I have Great Lengths hair extensions in at the moment, and to prolong the life of them, it is advised to use their shampoo so that the bonds don’t slide out or disintegrate. It took me a while to get used to the Great Lengths shampoo, as I found it didn’t lather as much as my old shampoo. However, it leaves your hair squeaky clean and you don’t have to wash it again for 2-3 days. I was actually stressed about how I was going to bring my Great Lengths shampoo to London, as I am flying Ryanair, but now my problem is solved. A full size costs €17.99 including delivery. Kinvara Skincare absolute cleansing oil

The next product, was one that left me a little disappointed. Not because of the product itself, but the size of the sample was a little small. I have heard lots of good things about Kinvara and I will try this one out, but I think a larger size is better to really find out if you like a product or not. Yet in saying that, the instructions do say that you only need one pump to take off you makeup. It is suitable for all skin types. Full size €20 sample size €1

Eye Magic Serum

I have never heard of this brand before, but anything with the words Hollywood or magic in the title, I am a little sceptical off, no matter how hefty the price tag and the prize of a full size bottle of this stuff is seriously hefty at €75 for 15ml!!! It is a serum of collagen and natural ingredients. It promises to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, eye bags and puffiness and dark circles in minutes!!! Emmmmm ok so. I don’t think I will use this. Sample size costs €14.00!!! I’ve included a picture below to show you just how tiny the sample is.

 

Over all I am happy with the contents of this month’s box, but I don’t think it would be for everyone. I hope that we see some full size products next month and a bit more timely delivery.
