One of my favourite parts of blogging is that I am introduced to products and brands that I would never normally pick up when out shopping. Clinique is one of those brands that for one reason or another I have previously overlooked. Their products never really jumped out at me, but to be fair, that was because of my own lack of knowledge of the brand, rather than the products or brand itself.
Over the past number of months I have had the pleasure of trying out a few bits from the Clinique range and have really fallen for quite a few, with the Quick Liner Intense for lips jumping to mind straight away. I absolutely love those liners!!! Over the past few weeks I have been trying out the new Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer, but do they join the list of my Clinique loves like Quick liner Intense for lips ?
The Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer are all about high shine and intense colour for your lips. These full colour lip lacquers promise full on colour payoff, up to six hours of wear, immediately moisturising and smoothing your lips, while giving a shine finish and comfortable wear. So do they live up to the promises from Clinique.
Firstly lets discuss the pigment. I honestly can’t fault these lip lacquers when it comes to pigment. One swipe of the doe foot applicator on the lips and you have an opaque wash of colour on your lips. While I was trailing more nude colours, I have seen the darker colours in use and they too offer a full coverage colour to the lips. So it is a big thumbs up when it comes to colour payoff.
Next up is the wear time. Clinique promises up to six hours wear time. Hmmmmmm!!! I always find these claims somewhat fascinating. I am yet to find a lip product that last six hours on my lips!!! To be fair, as fair as a lip lacquer goes, these do wear well and I got about 2 hours wear. However, keep in mind that I do colour in my lips with liner first, so I reckon this helps with prolonging the wear time. When worn on their own, you will need to top up more often.
The texture reminds me somewhat of the NYX butter glosses, except the Pop Lacquer Lip colour is far more pigmented and a little thicker. While I love the NYX butter glosses, you can’t compare the quality, as the Pop Lacquers far exceed NYX in this area. The Pop Lacquers definitely smooth out your lips and personally I didn’t find that the product travelled into fine lines around my mouth. I have seen people complaining that this happens, but I so no evidence of this.
I did find the extremely comfortable to wear. In fact I have found these to be a fantastic lip product for work, as while they give a lovely opaque colour to your lips, they are still work appropriate and look a little more dressed down than lipstick due to the high shine quality of them. I didn’t find the texture sticky at all. Yes they were somewhat tacky when first applied, but this is needed to make sure that the product lasts on your lips and doesn’t slide off straight away. I will put it do you this way, on a windy day, my hair didn’t end up stuck to my lips!
There are 7 colours to choose from in the range in total. I have been trailing the colours Cocoa Pop and Love pop. Both a beautiful nude shades but I have found myself wearing Cocoa Pop that little bit more.
Over the past few weeks, these Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer have been on my lips quite a bit and I have to say I do like them. Yes they aren’t extremely long wearing, but I don’t expect long wear from a lip lacquer. If you’re a fan of lip lacquers or high shine lip products, that you will really enjoy these. The Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer will launch in April and cost €20.

March 4, 2016 at 1:18 pmI loved these too although I did find they moved around but the shades I tried were the much bolder ones so they were possibly less forgiving! Happy Friday:)
