Tackle your oily T zone with the Youngblood pressed mineral rice setting powder

DSC_4332For those of you that may not have heard of Youngblood makeup before, it is a mineral makeup brand that has a big celebrity following in the States and launched in Ireland in late 2013. Normally when someone mentions that I should try mineral makeup, I smile politely at them and say ” Oh sure. I’ll check that out when I get a chance”, Knowing full sure that I won’t give it a second thought. I don’t know why, but for some reason, for a very long time, I have always thought of mineral makeup as a poor relation to regular makeup. Thankfully, for the most part, Youngblood has changed my opinion on mineral makeup.

Having fallen in love with the Youngblood eyeshadows and eyeliners in 2014, it was the turn of the pressed mineral rice setting powder to get a my heart all fluttery. To be honest, this has sat untouched in my makeup drawer for a good while now, and it was only when my t-zone decided that it was time to kick up the oil production a notch or two, that I decided to give it a go.

DSC_4335Like all Youngblood products, the pressed mineral rice setting powder is 100% talc, paraben and synthetic oil  free. Not only that, but it is cruelty free and vegan friendly!! The rice powder can be used in a two ways. You can apply it do your skin before applying your foundation to absorb up any oils, I personally don’t use it this way, or you can use it to set your foundation and under eye concealer.

The powder applies beautifully and is very silky on application and as a result it blends into the skin and there isn’t a hint of a powdery chalky look. Now in saying that, like with any powder, if you apply too much, it will look heavy on the skin, but with a light hand it will leave you with a smooth even matte finish, giving a flawless appearance. I use a large Sigma tapered powder brush, the F25, to apply the powder to my face.

DSC_4337I found this the pressed mineral rice setting powder especially good for keeping my t zone under control. As I mentioned above, lately for some reason or other, my skin has decided it is time to produce more oil in the t zone area. As a result of this, I found that I was getting a bit of break down of my foundation during the day. The Youngblood pressed mineral rice powder really helped prolong the wear of my foundation and keep break down at bay.

If you find it hard keeping your t zone in check, then I strongly suggest giving the Youngblood pressed mineral rice setting powder and spin. It comes in three shades, light, medium and dark and I find the medium shade to be perfect for my colouring. It is a little on the expensive side at €37, but you can it online here from Youngblood Ireland Direct.
