The NYX smokey eye look palettes review and tutorial

DSC_2865Who doesn’t love rocking a smokey eye on a night out, or even a bit of neutral smokiness during the day? Well NYX have got you covered with this little palettes of smoky goodness.

DSC_2888NYX have released 3 palettes to help you reproduce the perfect smokey eye no matter what colours you are into. The first palette, The smokey look kit, is a cool toned silver , grey and black palette to help you perfect the ideal Kim Kardashian smoky eye. This palette contains 9 shimmery colours, to help you smoke out your eyes.  Of all three palettes, this is the one I reached for the least, not because of the palette itself, but rather, I just don’t wear colours like this. If a dark smokey eye is your thing, then you really can’t go wrong with the Smoky Look kit.

DSC_2882Second up is the Nude on Nude natural look kit. This is more of a cool toned neutral palette. It contains 9 neutral colours to help you recreate a everything from  a natural look, to a full on blown out brown smokey eye . There are 3 matte colours and 6 shimmers. I am normally not a fan of shimmery eyeshadows, but these shadows were very wearable, as the shimmer was very slight.

DSC_2876The third palette was hands down my favourite to use and it is the one I have used in the tutorial below. The Bronze smokey Look kit. This palette contains 9 warm bronzy neutral colours. Again there are 3 matte and 6 shimmery colours. Over the last few weeks, I have found myself reaching for this palette over and over again. I love warmed toned colours and this palette really didn’t let me down. It’s small size, and it is on the small size, also makes it perfect for travelling with, as it takes up only a tiny amount of space.

Each palette contains 2 lip colours, but if I am being honest, I didn’t think a lot of these. I don’t feel that the palette needed them and they were a little on the sticky side. In my opinion, they would be more suited to someone in their teens. However, in saying that, while they didn’t add anything to the palette, they didn’t take away from how much I liked the shadows either.

With all 3 palettes the eyeshadows wore well throughout the day, but if you have oily eyelids, a primer would be a must with these. The colours were easy to work with and blended well. In each palette the colours complimented each other perfectly and you could create a number of looks for whatever palette you chose. One thing I would say about the eyeshadows, is the colour pay off wasn’t amazing on the initial swipe of colour to the eye. However, when you built up each colour on the eye, the finished look looked fantastic.

As most of you will already know, I am a massive fan of NYX and these palettes are no different. If I was to pick a favourite out the the three, it would hands down be the Bronze look kit, but that is only on preference of colour rather than quality, as each palette works as hard as the next. You can buy them nationwide for €12.99.
