The Queen of all lipsticks. Mac Ruby Woo

DSC_0785I convinced myself for a long time that I didn’t need this lipstick. I already had two beautiful red lipsticks that I loved and sure what does a girl need with another read lipstick? Yet the more I saw this lipstick on people, the more I knew it had to be mine. While in Florida last July, I finally took the plunge and my god I am so happy I did. This is honestly one of the most beautiful lipsticks I have ever tried. Actually scratch that, this is literally the Queen of all lipsticks.

DSC_0789If you catch yourself looking at celebrities fab red lips on the red carpet, you can be sure that most of the time this colour is Ruby Woo. Ruby Woo is a cool toned red with blue undertones to it. The pigmentation of this lipstick is phenomenal. It is literally the most vibrant red I have ever seen. The fact that it is a matte lipstick, helps with the vibrancy of the colour.

Ruby Woo has a matte finish. It has a reputation as being a really drying matte, and I am not gonna lie, it is pretty drying on the lips. I find however if you prime your lips with a lip balm a few minutes before application, this can help with the dryness. I find I need to dot a little bit of clear lipgloss over it if I am wearing it throughout the day, as it can become a little dry and uncomfortable.

DSC_0779Due to the fact that it is a retro matte, it is also a little hard to apply. I think this lipstick is best applied with a brush to get the sharp lines and to stop the dragging on the lips. However, once applied, the beauty of it all makes you forget how hard it is to apply.

DSC_0813The wear time of this lipstick is unreal. It doesn’t budge for hours and hours, but as I said, it does dry the lips out a little as the day progresses. This to me is the perfect lipstick for a night on the tiles, sipping on cocktails. Trust me, if you are out on the mooch for a man, this will certainly catch their eye.

While Ruby Woo has her faults, I forgive every single one of them, because she is just so beyond beautiful on the lips it would make you cry. With party season on the horizon, this really needs to be a lipstick in your arsenal. It honestly transforms your face and turns the most simple makeup into a real showstopper.

[…] I can’t do a red lipstick post without including what I deem to be the queen of all lipsticks, Ms Ruby Woo. I can’t get enough of this amazing blue toned red lipstick. While it can be drying on your lips and you wouldn’t want to be wearing it for more than a few hours, the beautiful colour more than makes up for the slight discomfort.
