Thrifty Tuesday: Max Factor Facefinity all day primer

DSC_1853How many of you use a primer? It is a step many people skip, but to me it is one of the most important, if not the most important step in your makeup routine. The key to beautiful looking skin is good preparation and a primer plays a key role in that.

There are so many benefits to using a primer.  For example. no matter how small our pores are, liquid foundation seems to always makes them even more visible. Sometimes it is like pores have their own flashing lights to pull attention to them. Using a primer stops this, by sealing up the pores and allowing the foundation to glide on easily and not sink into the pores.

Primers make out skin more even in texture and allows the foundation to sit better on the skin. I was once told, if I don’t use a primer I may as well be throwing my foundation down the sink, as it would just not sit right on my skin without a primer. A good primer helps improve the appearance of foundation on the skin. Did I mention primers can help with the appearance of ageing, as they help to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles? Eh hello, who doesn’t want a little bit of that in their lives?

Have you ever found that your makeup just doesn’t last throughout the day? Well a primer helps to prolong the wear time of your foundation.Primers help to reduce the sweating through pores and as a result your makeup won’t slide of your face.To get all the benefits of a primer you need to make sure you pick the right primer to do the job

photo 3The Max Factor All day primer is one to suit almost everyone. It takes the technology of the primer that is used within the extremely popular Max Factor 3 in 1 foundation and put these technologies into their very own stand alone primer. The All Day primer contains micro correctors that work to absorb sweat and sebum, that as a result extends the wear of your foundation for an “all day flawless finish”

The Max factor All day primer, comes in a 30 ml bottle with a pump. The pump itself seems to disperses just the right amount of product for me. I use two pumps to cover my face. It goes on lovely and doesn’t sit on the top of the skin like some primers can. It does contain silicones, but not heavy silicone like the Smashbox photo finish primer. The All day primer feels lightweight on the skin, more along the lines of a moisturiser than a traditional silicone primer. It also contains an SPF of 20, but SPF in makeup should never replace actual SPF.

photo 1The All day primer doesn’t blur out pores or fine lines as much as the Smashbox primer, it does blur them out but just not as much as I like with the Smashbox primer. The All Day primer does improve the texture of the skin, allowing foundation to go on more smoothly. It also holds foundation in place really welland prolongs the wear time of your foundation. It is almost like a glue for foundation.

If you have oily skin, this may just be a holy grail primer for holding your foundation in place. I have heard many oily skin bloggers rave about how amazing this is for prolonging the wear time of their foundation. This primer would also be amazing for those of you with normal or combination skin. If you have dry skin, I personally think you would need something with a little heavier silicone content. At least that is what I like when my skin goes through a dry patch.

I have compared the All day primer with the Smashbox photo finish a primer throughout this post, and that is because I feel that this primer lives up to the standards of a high end primer, but with a much lower price tag. At €13.99 this is a serious bargain. It can be bought on any Max Factor stand or online here for €12.99. If you are in the market for a new primer, make this your next purchase.
