I wanted to do something summer-related and if there is one thing I change more than anything else during the warmer months, it’s my lip colour. While I do still tend to do dark, goth-y makeup as much as is humanly acceptable, sometimes you just want to cast it all away in favour of something a bit brighter. I didn’t mean for it to work out this way, but it just so happens that they’re all drugstore and very affordable. These are my top picks:

It’s a bright, blue-based pink that looks gorgeous with a bit of a tan. It can be a bit daunting for some people, so I suggest applying a light layer and dabbing it in to your lips for a lighter wash of of colour. It’s really pigmented and it lasts quite a long time without having to re-apply, too.

I absolutely love this ELF Mineral Lipstick in Cool Coral. It’s an orange-coral with gold shimmer through it. They’re not like big bits of glitter, it’s more subtle than that. The lasting power isn’t amazing, but it’s still pretty good considering how cheap they are. The pigmentation is great, and they feel really moisturising.

If pinker corals are more your thing, definitely check out the NYX Round Lipstick in Indian Pink*. This is quite similar to the ELF lipstick, with slightly better lasting time, more moisturising, and it glides on wonderfully. It’s currently my go-to ‘nude’ lipstick, it’s a very pretty coral-y pink with gold running through it. One of my favourite lipsticks at the moment.

The balm-stain-chubby-stick trend rages on, and MUA hit the mark perfectly with their Power Pout in Rendezvous. This is a gorgeous orange-red colour that packs a good punch pigment wise. It glides on like a balm, and when it dries it leaves a gorgeous tint of colour behind. It’s really moisturising, so great for the summer months where a matte colour might be just a little bit too much. It also smells/tastes like mint, which is a massive hit in my book.

Last, but certainly not least, is the NYX Butter Gloss in Peaches & Cream. The second product from NYX in my top 5, I’m absolutely loving this brand at the minute. This is a very balm-y, pigmented gloss in a beautiful peachy-pink shade. I love it alone, but it also looks beautiful over virtually any nude or pink colour. I’m not much of a gloss person, but when it comes to the butter glosses, I’m totally converted!
