Ready for another guest blogger? Today’s blogger is Leanne from the Oh So brilliant Blather and Beauty. If you’re looking for a gorgeous looking blog, then look no further. Leanne not only has fabulous looking pictures, but her reviews are top notch. One of my favourite things about Blather and Beauty is that Leanne doesn’t review the same old things as many other blogs. This keeps me coming back over and over again. Please don’t forget toe give Leanne a follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and check our her blog here.
Anyone with dry or dehydrated skin will know that proper skin care is vital, especially when it comes to makeup. There’s nothing worse than having to battle with your foundation getting patchy or flakey as the day goes on. Before serums were a thing, I was always spending a fortune on moisturisers, masks and anything I could find to try give my skin some sort of moisture boost! When it comes to it, if you invest in a good serum you can literally use any moisturiser you like with it – no matter what the price tag. A serum will basically supercharge your usual moisturiser, helping to keep your skin looking smoother and feeling more hydrated.
I decided to go through what ones I’ve been using over the past year or so and picked out some that will suit all budgets and really do their job!
Gatineau Defy Lift 3D
If you watch QVC you may have seen this brand being showcased a thousand times. It’s not something you see in your local pharmacy but this cult French brand is really results driven and have over 80 years of research, so they know their stuff! While this serum is marketed as a “lifting serum” it’s ability to inject moisture into the skin is fantastic. I use this as a day serum in the mornings as it’s not greasy and sinks perfectly into the skin. At €67.00 is not cheap but I was lucky enough to get this one in the All Beauty sale for €13.99! It’s a good site to keep an eye on for some beauty bargains!
Pestle & Mortar Pure Hyaluronic Serum
Those of you not familiar with this brand, it’s an Irish company that are going from strength to strength with this product! As we know, hyularonic acid can retain over 1000 times it’s weight in water within the cells of the skin, resulting in skin smoothness and decreased wrinkles. Pestle & Mortar have captured this in a serum which sinks straight into the skin leaving the perfect base for your usual skin care. You only need a small amount of this each time so it works out quite cost effective too! This costs €43.00 and is available from their website.
Nivea Q10 Serum Pearls
I love this product!! The Q10 range is aimed at reducing wrinkles but with this serum they have enriched it with hyaluronic acid, making it beneficial to dry skin too. The pump is full of these little Q10 filled pearls that burst as soon as you pump onto your hand and it smells so fresh and amazing! This is a brilliant budget option for someone looking to boost their skin care as it’s only €11.99 and easily available in most chemists.
Murad Intensive Age-Diffusing Serum
Murad are world renowned for their skin care and this serum is from the Resurgence range. The magic in this serum is from the “Resurrection Plant” where they have utilised proteins from it which are highly resilient and shown to survive severe dehydration and thrive in harsh conditions. This is great for 30+ skin in helping with age-related hydration and helping restore a youthful glow to the skin. I like to use this at night whenever my skin is looking particularly dull and it really works wonders! It’s around €72.00 but by using just 3 or 4 times a week, I still get the great skin benefits and last’s nearly a year.
Medyskin Vitamin C Beauty Oil
Whilst this is not a serum, I love using it on nights I use a face mask and really massage this into this skin afterwards. If your skin is going through a severe dry patch, it’s also good to apply some type of facial oil over your usual night moisturiser to lock in moisture. This step might not be for everyone but my skin loves it and looks really bright and feels super hydrated the next morning. I picked this one up by chance at T.K. Maxx for €9.99 and went back for another a few days later! The beauty isles in T.K. Maxx usually stock lots of really good facial oils for affordable prices, so it’s worth having a look next time you visit.
Thanks for reading and hopefully it might be of use to some of you! And also thanks so much to Sinead for having me guest post on her fantastic blog.
Much love,
