If you follow my snapchat, @thebeauttruth, you will have seen my pure and utter joy when these beauties dropped through my letter box from The Loop Duty free. I had been eagerly awaiting the release of this collection. With Beckham’s clothing line being not only out of my price range but out of my waist range too, Beckham makeup, was right up my street.
The 15 piece limited edition collection, is quite literally the stuff of a beauty lovers dream. The collection is said to be based on Victoria’s 4 favourite cities, London, New York, Paris and LA. Each city represents a different look with London of course being having an edgy feel to it.
The packaging of the entire collection harps back to something that would have sat proudly on my Grandmothers dressing table. It has a really beautiful vintage feel to it and screams pure luxury.
I received 3 pieces from the collection to try out. An eyeshadow in the shade Bitter Clove. A lipstick in the shade Brazilian Nude and the double ended eyeliner in the shades Vanilla and Black Saffron.
The Metal eyeshadow in Bitter Clove is a metallic powder eyeshadow with a decent amount of shimmer to it. While it does contain shimmer, it is so fine it doesn’t look like your typical shimmer eyeshadow and instead glistens beautifully on the eye. The shadow itself is a little on the sheer side, so an eyeshadow base is a must with this shadow to make sure you get the most out of it. Once applied with an eyeshadow base, I really like this as a wash of colour. It is very subtle and while it is only one shade, when blended in there are a lot of tones running through it that it looks like you have done a lot more than apply one shadow. This is the perfect shadow for someone who isn’t confident with makeup and yet likes to look like they have made an effort. The only downside to this palette is it is very expensive. It is €40 on the high street but it is at least 15% cheaper in The Loop.
The lipstick I received was a bit of a dud for me. I found that while it was incredibly cream, it was a little too creamy that it just wore of the lips in no time. I didn’t even get 30 minutes wear before this wore off completely. The packaging, while it looks great, it felt a little light weight and dare I say it, cheap! If I paying €40 for a lipstick I want sturdy, special packaging and a product that lasts more than a half hour! It actually pains me tat I didn’t like this.
I am not going to beat around the bush with this one. This eyeliner is incredible. The black shade is unbelievably creamy and pigmented. It is the longest wearing pencil eyeliner I have ever worn and it is perfect for the waterline. The cream side is the same, but I find it difficult to pull off a light shade on my waterline. The double sided eyeliner costs €27 on the high street but at at least 15% cheaper in The Loop, this is one you would be mad not to pick up if you’re going through the airport.
Overall I do really like two of the products I received, with the eyeliner being better than most I have tried. The products are expensive but if you’re looking to buy some and you are going through the airport or know someone going through get them to pick it up there because if I am honest, apart from the eyeliner it would be hard to justify full price for the other products.
