If you follow any of my social media, you will have heard me talk about this palette again and again. The Violet Voss Holy Grail palette, is one of those palettes that has taken the hearts of many a beauty lover. When you look at it, it is not hard to see why.
The Violet Voss palette is a warm tone lovers dream palette. It has 20 warm toned shadows that are a mix of both matte and shimmers. Often with eyeshadow palettes, there are either too many of the same type of colour, or not enough shades to create several different looks. This is most certainly not the case with this palette. I have literally used every single shadow in the palette on a number of occasions.
While there is a great mix of matte and shimmer finish, I personally find that the matte shadows, 100% out perform the shimmer shadows. I find that some of the shimmer shades are far too chunky and can be a little on the difficult side to work with. The worst two offenders being Toffee and cool beans. In saying that, I still use them as they are gorgeous once applied. Most of the other shimmer shades are far smoother than these two! However, one thing that all the shimmers have in common is fallout. While fall out personally doesn’t bother me, it is something to keep in mind.
The mattes on the other hand are nothing short of incredible! The colour pay off is sensational!!! In fact you need to go in with a light touch as the pigment can be very strong if you go in heavy-handed. There is not one matte shade that I can fault in this shadow. Even the lightest shadow have incredible pigment!
What I love about this palette is that you can create a serious amount looks using it. It can be used for those subtle everyday looks needed for work, to a full on vampy eye. The only thing that I feel the palette is missing is a black shade!
Since I bought this last October, the packaging as since changed, which I am delighted with. Within one use, my palette was filthy and it is the type of material that doesn’t scrub clean! Hopefully the new packaging is a little easier to keep clean than the packaging I have.
I have completed an easy to create tutorial using the palette below and I would love to know what you think! You can buy the Violet Voss palette from Beauty Bay here for €52.10 but be warned, it is forever so old so grab it if you see it!
