We need to talk about Mary Lou (manizer)

DSC_2979For a long time I wouldn’t give into the hype surrounding The Balm’s Mary Lou Manizer. Far too many people were raving about it, that I thought it might be too good to be true and I felt I had enough highlighters that I didn’t need to check if the hype was true or not. That was until a few weeks, when I was at  a bloggers event, Dee from Viva Adnois took out her Mary Lou Manizer and I swatched it. Holy Mary mother of God!! I now get what all the hype was about and more!

DSC_3070The Mary Lou Manizer is a smooth, buttery and extremely pigmented highlighter. It is a beautiful champagne colour, that would look gorgeous on fair to medium dark toned skin. It is has a beautiful shimmer to it, without a hint of glitter insight. Unlike some other highlighters, Mary Lou gives your skin a highlighted glow that knocks most other highlighters out of the water. Whenever I am taking pictures, I am always blown away by how unbelievably glowy my skin looks. The only other highlighter that has come within a hairs breathe of this, is the Inglot sparkling dust. However, the Inglot dust can be messy to apply at times as it is a loose powder.

IMG_0965Due to the unbelievable pigmentation of Mary Lou, this is not a highlighter for those that just want a subtle barely there glow. This gives full on beautiful glowy skin, but it is easy to go a little over board with it, so a light hand is needed. A little bit goes a very long way! I am still to find the perfect brush for this, but I have been using my Nima brush Duo Fibre to apply it and it is doing the job well for now.

DSC_3082It is hard to ignore the beautiful packaging of The Balm products. The Mary Lou Manizer comes in a cute plastic compact, with a decent size mirror inside. There is also a decent amount of product and as you use so little, you would get quite a long time out of Mary Lou.

Since buying The Mary Lou Manizer a few weeks ago, I haven’t laid one finger on any of my other highlighters. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my Becca highlighter in Moon stone, but the Mary Lou Manizer is on a whole different level to anything I own. It’s a while since I said this, but you need this in your life. I can’t recommend The Mary Lou Manizer highly enough. Best part is, it isn’t massively expensive either at €19

You can buy it in Make Up For Ever on Clarendon street, or online here at Cloud 10 Beauty

Great review, the quality of these highlighters is just amazing but they look just a little too obvious on my skin!
