What’s in my makeup bag?

Blather and Beauty is a recent find for me, but one that I find myself going back to check every day. I love Leanne’s style of writing and we seem to be somewhat kindred spirits when it comes to makeup. Leanne is nothing short of a wonder woman, because not only is she running a busy blog, but she is a Mammy to a little beauty and she works!!!  When you have finished reading her post below, you can check out her blog here. Don’t forget to follow Blather and Beauty on both Twitter and Facebook too.

I thought I would do a little post about what I carry in my everyday make-up bag. This is what I would have in my handbag on a day-to-day basis for work and everyday neutral make-up.

1. MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty

This is a lovely blush for Summer as it gives a lovely sheen as opposed to just a flat colour. You do need to touch up on this during the day as I find it only wears for about 4-5 hours.

2. Maybelline Colossal Extreme Mascara

This is my current mascara and I am really loving it! I am lucky to have quite long lashes so I only need a mascara that gives me volume and this one certainly delivers. Its never clumps even if you build up a layer or two. I don’t like waterproof mascaras, they are just too much of a pain to remove, but this lasts all day and doesn’t flake after a few hours.

3. Estee Lauder Double Wear Powder Foundation

I don’t carry liquid foundation around with me, I apply in the morning and leave it at that. I use this for touch-ups throughout the day. With the Double Wear liquid, touch-ups are rare but if I have some shininess or redness going on, this is fab just to lightly dust over as it gives that extra bit of coverage. I bought this well over a year ago and haven’t touched the pan yet, so its good value for money. I wouldn’t recommend it for just foundation as it tends to look cakey. I love that this has a mirror aswell.

4. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium

This powder really gives a lovely finish to the skin, so if I don’t need extra coverage through-out the day, this will freshen up my makeup and leaves the skin looking luminous.

5. Clinique Under Eye Concealer

This is handy to have if I’m living off a few hours sleep. It’s a nice light shade but can settle into fine lines so a light hand is needed. I use the Real Techniques shadow brush with this.

6. MAC Naked Lunch

I generally only wear neutral colour eyeshadows for day-time. Sometimes I do a bit of a contour around the socket with a darker colour, but I find this shade really pretty on its own. It is a pinky-champagne tone that suits all eye colours. I would recommend this as a staple in your eyeshadow collection.

7. Rimmel Lipliner in Fuchsia

This is one of my favourite lipliners and I have re-purchased it so many times. The colour is lovely and vibrant for Summer and it wears really well. It’s cheap as chips and I get months out of it. I am not a huge lipstick fan, really only use it on nights out so a lipliner with mixed with some lip balm gives a nice touch of colour.

8. Lancome Juicy Tube

These are the most longest lasting lip glosses, and don’t feel sticky at all. This is a neutral coloured one.

9. Tweezers

You will always find a stray eyebrow hair that has miraculously has grown since that morning, or one hair sticking out like a sore thumb! Tweezerman really are the best ones, I find they stay sharp for so long. I have this one nearly 3 years.

10. Maybelline Baby Lips

God how I love these! I have quite a few dotted around the house and one in my car. They moisturise your lips really well and I love that this one gives a gorgeous pop of colour. Also you can apply without a mirror unlike a lipstick, so its great on the go.

11. Maybelline Master Kajal Eyeliner

I previously got one of these with Glossybox last year and loved it, so much that I bought another one. If you are not great with liquid liner, this is your man. It’s like a fat crayon, and the colour is a really nice dark black. It stays for a good 5 hours or so but tends to smudge a little after this so sometimes a touch-up is needed. Also it never needs to be sharpened which is a bonus.

12. Real Techniques Eye Shadow Brush

I love that this brush can be used with both powder and cream eyeshadows, so it’s a good one to have. Plus I love the purple handle colour!

13. Real Techniques Blush Brush

This is one of my favourite brushes from the Real Techniques range. Its soooo soft and I love that it tapers at the top. I have two of these and I much prefer to apply setting powder etc with this instead of the standard powder brush. If you don’t have one of these, seriously buy one!

Makeup Bag was €3 from Penneys.

I hope you enjoyed and thank you Sinead for giving me the opportunity to guest post on your fabulous blog.
Much love, Leanne x
