GHD Air Hairdryer review

Screen Shot 2015-01-22 at 23.06.00If I won the euro millions, one of the first things I would do, is hire my own personal hairdresser to come to my house every morning and do my hair. I absolutely hate blow drying my hair. Not only does it normally take an eternity, but I rarely get it to dry into the style that I want. Could you imagine that hassle being taken out of your life, if you didn’t have to blow-dry your own hair every day. Well a girl can dream.

Before Christmas, my old hairdryer gave up and died. It had been a long drawn out death, with a gradual loss of heat, until finally one morning , it never came to life again. Luckily for me my sister reads my blog and saw that I had my eye on the GHD Air hair dryer. I had done quite a bit of research on hairdryers, and the more I read, the more the GHD hair came out on top.

DSC_3619The GHD Air really is a beautiful looking hairdryer. I was lucky enough to get the limited edition Rose Gold dryer as a Christmas present and the colour just screams luxury. The body of the hairdryer is matte black and while it looks good, it is an absolute pain to keep clean. If there is any bit of makeup at all on your hands, it will mark the dryer. I hate looking at grimy looking appliance!!

DSC_3617The dryer feels lighter than the traditional salon hairdryer and I know this might sound a little odd, but it sounds much quieter too. It comes with a salon length cable which I love, as it means I don’t have to stretch the cable to reach my plug. It also comes with two different size nozzles. I find the larger one is better for getting smoother hair.

DSC_3623There are two heat and speed settings, which are said to give you more control on styling your hair. While at the same time helping you maintain the health and shine. I do find that the hottest setting is uber hot, and I tend to flick between the two settings. In saying that, when I dry my hair, it is so lovely and bouncy, and looks really healthy, that with a good heat protection spray, it is worth the little bit of extra heat. It also comes with a cool air shot button, to help your style to hold in place longer.

DSC_3625The GHD Air is said to have salon strength with a 2100w motor. Ladies, this is one seriously powerful hairdryer and with power like that comes quick drying times. It normally takes me 15-20 minutes to get my hair fully dry, but with the GHD Air my hair is dry in less than 10 minutes. This is unheard of for me. Not only is my natural hair really thick, but I have a full head of extensions too.

DSC_3622GHD claim that due to an advanced ionic technology it will dry your hair faster than a regular dryer ( I read claims of twice as fast). Not only that, it is said to leave your hair frizz free, sleek and straight . With promises like this, you can see why I needed it in my life. However, here’s the thing. It works!!!! It actually does dry my hair faster than any hairdryer I have tried. It does banish frizz. Well most of it. I do find that any broken hairs I have on the top of my head stand up a little, but nothing that a bit of serum can’t fix and it does leave my hair sleeker, and I find I don’t need to go near my GHD half as much.

DSC_3633While the GHD Air does come with a big enough price tag at €99, in my opinion it is money well spent. I absolutely love it. It leaves my hair smooth, bouncy and dries it in no time at all. If you are in the market for a new dryer, my advice is to fork out that little bit extra for this. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.

You can buy the GHD Air here.

Sounds great Sinead – if I’m in the market for a hair dryer (my hairs too short right now really) I will definitely keep this in mind x

Matte black things are my absolute pet peeve when it comes to makeup or beauty, my Smashbox Full Exposure palette is as grubby as can be and it makes me not want to use it! The dryer sounds great, I hate styling my hair and it usually ends up in a ponytail or topknot.

The best hair dryer I’ve EVER used is the GHD Air Hairdryer. It is really powerful but it has ceramic and negative ions so it dries super fast without damaging hair.
