IMG_0476I was invited out to Cedars Beauty to try out the brand new IBX nail system treatment. I am a huge fan of shellac, and while shellac is not very damaging for your nails, sitting in front of the TV with a glass of wine picking the shellac off your nails is extremely damaging and as a result of this, the condition of my nails can be described as nothing short of rag order. Every single time I pick off my shellac, I am peeling away a layer of my nail and my nails have been left with discolouration, delimitation, groves and  they are constantly splitting. Suzanne, promised me that this treatment, which is brand new to Ireland, was exactly what my nails needed and has been a real game changer in the nail industry.

The IBX nail treatment is a salon only treatment, that is said to bring damaged nails back to their former glory. It is applied like a nail polish and works to restore damaged nails through heat and a serious of highly penetrative oils. The heat works together with the oils  to penetrate down to the nail bed and bring even the most damaged nails back to life.Once cured with heat, the treatment locks together in the nail bed to become a permeant part of the nail structure. By applying this treatment it is said to toughen, strength and protect your nails. When used before applying gel or shellac to the nails it adds a layer of protection to the nails, which reduces the damage caused by soaking off polishes or gel nails.

For the application of the treatment, the first step Suzanne did was to remove any old nail polish and to tidy up my cuticle area and shape up my nails. She then cleansed off my nails and applied the repair treatment to my nails like a nail polish. After each application she cured the nails with some heat to make sure it penetrated down to the nail bed and then placed the nails under the LED to lock in the product, before applying the second layer of repair.

IMG_0481The next stage was to apply the actual IBX to the nail. Again this was applied like a polish, cured with some heat and placed under an LED light to lock in the product. She wiped off any excess and then applied the second application, which is recommended for first time users. Once the treatment had been applied twice, the nail was cleansed and oil was applied and rubbed into the nails. My nails were gleaming. While the results are not obvious straight away, once the nails begin to grow out, the results are said to be like nothing the nail industry has seen before.

The IBX nail treatment can be used as a stand alone treatment or before application of a set of gel nails, shellac or nail polish. As I mentioned above, application of this treatment before polish etc is added, will stop any damage to the nails.

It is recommended that you get the IBX treatment weekly until the nails grow out and then a top up treatment every 3 weeks or so. There aren’t many salons that are offering this, but Cedars Beauty will apply the IBX treatment as part of a manicure with the total cost of €30.

Anyone can benefit from this treatment, not just those with damaged nails. It is said to reduce the appearance of white spots on nails, fill in deep groves caused by peeling of shellac or gel nails meaning you don’t have to buff out these groves, it repairs splitting in nails as well as delamitation and peeling. With all this repair going on, your nails can begin growing out to give you talons that anyone would be jealous of.

Even after one treatment, my nails don’t look as dehydrated as before. The result of regular IBX treatments to your nails is hydration and health.Your nails a strengthen, there is no peeling, splitting or white spots anymore.

IMG_0495 IMG_0486Cedars beauty is one of the first salons in Dublin to bring this treatment to the public. If you find yourself in Dundrum on afternoon to yourself, you should absolutely pop down a treat yourself to a manicure with the IBX treatment. Cedars beauty is a real gem of a salon, the staff are friendly and professional. The salon is seriously clean and polished looking and they have a large range of treatments to pick from. I will absolutely be heading back soon to get another IBX treatment and possibly treat myself to a little something else. Sure if we don’t treat ourselves, who else will?
